A Floridian who contracted SARS abroad has infected a coworker, the state department of health said Wednesday, marking the first time the disease may have been spread to someone other than a household member or health care worker.

Actually, no. No one has claimed that cockroaches are the only way the disease spreads.

At least one of the accounts of the cockroach theory has gone into more detail: the cockroaches, it is hypothesized, spread contaminated feces (in Amoy Gardens in Hong Kong, from one apartment to adjoining apartments). The suspect virus has been found in victims' feces. Coworkers could be exposed to contaminated feces in workplace bathrooms.
