Jane's New Campaign [Fonda alert]
NY Daily News ^ | April 10, 2003 | Rush/Molloy

Posted on 04/10/2003 7:44:20 AM PDT by lainie

Conservatives may start calling her "Baghdad Jane."

Oscar-winner Jane Fonda told a Canadian audience [Tuesday] that she fears the U.S. campaign in Iraq will turn people all over the world against America.

"What it's going to mean for [America's] stability as a nation, for terrorism, for the economy - I can't imagine," Fonda said Tuesday in Vancouver. "I think the entire world is going to be united against us."

She isn't sure what Americans can do about it.

"I don't know if a country where the people are so ignorant of reality and of history, if you can call that a free world," said the woman who came to be known as Hanoi Jane after she visited North Vietnam during the Vietnam War.

Fonda added that she hoped Iraqis will feel the same as Vietnamese who told her that "someday the war will be over, and we're going to have to be friends again."

Gosh, Jane, you might be right!

They might get angry enough to blow up one of our naval vessels! They might even fly aircraft into one of our monumental skyscrapers in a major American city!

Oh, goodness! She just HAD to put her 2 cents in, didn't she?

I guess Jane's not getting too many calls from her agent these days.

You're right Jane, we should just give up on them because they're just too damn ignorant.

Does this aging virago never learn? After the years of being excoriated by so many Americans, not just of the right, but clear across the board, for offering to "shoot down" American pilots, she does not seem to understand the role of the US military, nor the mission of the American ideals behind them.

Just another overpaid and overblown egotist from Hollywood who would be an unemployed waitress in Bakersfield with 5 kids and 4 husbands if her name wasn't Fonda. Nepotism and Hollywierdos are interchangeable. My appologies to waitresses!!!

Pray for GW and our Troops

Jane, I don't think you have to worry about whether or not the liberated Iraqis are going to want to be "friends again" with America. However, their may be a few liberated Iraqis who may have some issues concerning friendship with some in the UN, the media, you, and the rest of your Hollywood Saddam anti-war cheerleading death squads.

Talk about ignorance - "Jane, you ignorant slut."

I don't know, Frank Sinatra's daughter Nancy was also described as a "pizza waitress", but by that time she wha shown to be totally lacking in motivation, with only a modicum of talent. Jane had more motivation, but was about as modest in real talent. She surely hasn't much opportunity in recent years to polish up even that humble resume.

Jane, Jane, Jane...

What happened to the mea culpa you offered about your admitted terrible misjudgment in siding with our enemies during the Vietnam War? You said it was because you were young, idealistic, and misinformed. You said you were ashamed of yourself because of it.

Yet here you are now, blatting off about this war as if anyone cared about your opinion outside your luxury boudoir (nice French word, Jane.) Am I missing something, or were you a little less than sincere?

she should have been tried and convicted for treason back in the 60's when she came back from Nam then taken out and hung by the neck.
