Josh Ruebner is so much more truly Jewish in spirit than the Wolfie, that he writes for truly Jewish Al Ahram.

It appears the author of this well-mannered screed is "eager to serve the interests of the [masses] so that [he] could ease [his] feelings of internalised self- hatred."

The comfortable, accessible relationship that you had with your students at SAIS makes it difficult for me to address you as the Assistant Secretary of Defence of the United States of America. Strange how this self-described bookish SAIS student doesn't know that Wolfowitz is the Deputy Secretary of Defense and not one of the many Assistant Secretaries.
As to the charge that Wolfowitz formed his views to please the administration, the reality is that Wolfowitz held his views about Iraq and Saddam in the 1970s -- long before this administration took office:
From Why Wolfie set out to get Iraq's mafioso
"No one can lay a greater claim to being the architect of this war; Saddam has been in his sights since 1979, when he was a junior Pentagon analyst."
From Why Washington's hawks see further than Europe's doves
"As long as ago as the 1970s, Wolfowitz was warning (in a document still classified today) of the international threat posed by Saddam Hussein. He saw the Middle East as a crucible in which were commingled the hatred of America and Britain, the resentments of an Arab world whose politics prevented both democracy and economic progress, the loathing of Israel and the adaptation of Islam for extreme political ends. Hopefully when Ruebner sits down to Passover Seder next week, he will realize the striking parallels between the story of the Jewish people's redemption from slavery in Egypt, and that of the Iraqi people's redemption.
In the days leading up to our liberation in Egypt, we drained Egypt of all its wealth by "borrowing" all the gold and jewels of our slavemasters (Exodus 3:22 and 11:2). There was an intense "air campaign" waged against them, involving the spoiling of drinkable water, devastation of food supplies, and even "biological warfare," involving boils and livestock disease. The campaign finally culminated in the death of every first-born child in every Egyptian family, causing a terrible cry of anguish throughout all of Egypt, the likes of which have never been heard again.
This is clearly a far more catastrophic scenario than even the most wild-eyed predictions of the war protestors.
Every Passover, we drink a cup of wine to symbolize the joy of our freedom from the suffering of our slavery in Egypt, but we diminish this cup by 10 drops, one for each plague visited upon the Egyptians in the course of our liberation.
A mere ten drops out of a full cup of wine does not suggest insignificance of the suffering and loss inflicted against the slave-masters of the Jewish people in the course of our liberation, but rather represents the enormous magnitude of joy that is found in finally shattering the yoke of harsh servitude and bitter oppression, and being able to live as a free people once again.
Undoubtedly, in the commemorations of the Iraqi liberation three thousand years from now, they will spill out drops of wine from their cup of joy in memory of the children maimed and killed, of the mothers and fathers, the sons and daughters who were caught in the maelstrom of enormous forces and who did not live to see the day of Iraqi freedom.
But in three thousand years, the name of Saddam Hussein will be forgotten, just as the name of Pharoh has been, and Iraqi families will recline in comfort and safety and drink their cup, less those drops, and remember the joyous day when they danced in the streets and smashed the idols of their oppressor.

This man is entitled to his opinion. But his thought process does not suggest that he is smart.
A perfectly good course Wolfovitz taught was wasted on him.

Allow me to summarize the author's thesis: If you don't think as I do, you're a traitor to Judaism who has sold out to The Man.
If I try to reply to this scumbucket I will spend the evening cursing at my computer, so I will be brief: The holy book of Judaism is the Torah, not the New York Times; Judaism is a religion, not a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Democratic Party; why shouldn't Arabs scapegoat Jews when you're doing it yourself, you b@st@rd?!
I've heard black conservatives called "Oreos." This mealy-mouthed appeasenik just called Paul Wolfowitz a bacon bagel. Mr Ruebner, may you find out just what your Arab handlers think of all Jews - and I don't particularly care if you survive the experience.

"Court Jew" seems to be his Jewish version of the term "House Nigger" that's been applied to any Black person who doesn't conform to the orthodox Black mindset as defined by Farrakhan, Jackson, Sharpton, and the like.
In the letter I'm writing to him, I'm keeping an even tone - I dind't want to rip into him with my fury over this term, I want to make sure he reads the whole letter.

"Court Jew" seems to be his Jewish version of the term "House N-----" that's been applied to any Black person who doesn't conform to the orthodox Black mindset as defined by Farrakhan, Jackson, Sharpton, and the like. Got it in one. The attitude of the author and his ilk seems to be that there are thoughts it is immoral for people of certain races/nationalities/religions to think. These people favor diversity - the diversity of the Borg.
In the letter I'm writing to him, I'm keeping an even tone - I dind't want to rip into him with my fury over this term, I want to make sure he reads the whole letter.
Well done - honey and vinegar, etc. My compliments, and I wish you luck.

Are you scared like I am that this imperialistic war in Iraq threatens the existence of the Jewish people? It's morons like Josh Reubner who threaten the existence of the Jewish people.

Dear Mr. Ruebner,
I read your recent open letter to Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz, published in Al Ahram.
We are fast approaching the season of Pesach, where we recall our deliverance from bondage in the land of Egypt. As you join your friends and family for Seder and fulfill the mitzvah of discussing it late into the night, I hope that you will consider my comments.
In the days leading up to our liberation in Egypt, we drained that nation of all its wealth by "borrowing" the gold and jewels of our slave masters. There was an intense "air campaign" waged against them, involving the spoiling of drinkable water, devastation of food supplies, and even "biological warfare," involving boils and livestock disease. This campaign finally culminated in the death of every first-born child in every Egyptian family, causing a terrible cry of anguish throughout all of Egypt, the likes of which have never been heard again.
This is certainly a far more catastrophic scenario than even the most wild-eyed predictions of the war protestors as to the conduct of coalition troops in Iraq.
Every Pesach, we drink a cup of wine to symbolize the joy of our freedom from the suffering of our slavery in Egypt, but we diminish this cup by 10 drops, one for each plague visited upon the Egyptians in the course of our liberation.
A mere ten drops out of a full cup of wine does not suggest insignificance of the suffering and loss inflicted against our slave-masters in the course of our liberation, but rather it represents the enormous magnitude of joy found in finally shattering the yoke of harsh servitude and bitter oppression, and being able to live as a free people once again.
In the commemorations of Iraqi liberation three thousand years from now, they surely will spill out drops of wine, diminishing their cup of joy in memory of the children maimed and killed, of the mothers and fathers, the sons and daughters who were caught in the maelstrom of enormous forces, and did not live to see the day of Iraqi freedom.
But in three thousand years, the name of Saddam Hussein will be forgotten, just as the name of Pharaoh has been, and Iraqi families will recline in comfort, happiness, and safety and drink their cup less those drops and remember the joyous day when they danced in the streets and smashed the idols of their oppressor.
Shalom & Chag Sameach,
