I could only endure about two paragraphs, and I had to stop. Pure excrement.

Methodism is NOT a " fundamentalist " sect. That's just one of many errors, in this POS article, written by a self absorbed, snide, little elitist cretin, who has less than 3 working brain cells and a HUGE envy problem.

Once against confirming the historic tie between leftism and anti-semitism.

I think the author overstates the goals and objectives of those around Bush. But the truth comes if Bush sells out Blair on the "Roadmap" to peace and the creation of a Palestinian state.

"This is insanely anti-semetic, very worrying to me that Salon would publish this"

Barbara Amiel, distinguished Canadian/British journalist and wife of Conrad Black owner of the Daily Telegraph and Spectator, said recently that in the UK anti-Semitism is the streetcorner where right and left meet. Obviously in the U.S. too.

Anti-Semitism never dies.

Ok, if that is his explanation for Bush, what's the explanation for Tony Blair? Is he also a captor of the jewish neocon?

The left said the same thing about Reagan, that he was a puppet being used by the anti-communists and was a threat to start WWIII.

"But the truth comes if Bush sells out Blair on the "Roadmap" to peace and the creation of a Palestinian state."

They'll explain that away: "How Bush escaped the clutches of the Jewish cabal"

There is no "jewish cabal". Bush promised Blair that the US would committ to the "Roadmap to peace" of the Palestinean question when he got his committment to this war in Iraq. If Bush fails to appease Blair in this endevour then one could indeed say that the interests of Isreal are put above the US at the expense of an ally like Britain that stood by us and fought with us.

...there was an imminent threat to the U.S. from Saddam Hussein's "weapons of mass destruction," something the leading neocons say in public but are far too intelligent to believe themselves. The Project for the New American Century urged an invasion of Iraq throughout the Clinton years, for reasons that had nothing to do with possible links between Saddam and Osama bin Laden.

Here's the 1998 letter the neocons sent to Clinton

Letter to President Clinton

Unless you believe they were trying to deceive Clinton I would say Lind is full of s**t.

As for a connection between bin Laden and Saddam, nobody would have made an issue of it at that time...Lind is again being disingenuous.

Michael Lind is an ex-conservative turned liberal. Yes, a lot of us were Leftists and liberals in our youth. That is hardly a secret. I suspect what upsets him we understand the enemy better than the enemy understands us. I'm flattered at Lind's charge that President Bush and our government is being manipulated for the benefit of Israel. The simple fact of the matter is Iraqis deserved freedom for their own sake after living three decades under one of the most brutal and repressive regimes in modern history. That every people in the Middle East would like to enjoy freedom just like Israelis and Americans do is a fact lost on Lind. We ex-Lefties turned conservatives can at least legitimately claim to be remaking history for the better. Its apparent Lind can do no better than whine about everything conservatives promised would happen in this war appears to be coming true. As it so happens, that's now his and the America-hating Stalinist Communist New Left's worst nightmare in America.

It hardly needs to be added that if Saddam does acquire the capability to deliver weapons of mass destruction, as he is almost certain to do if we continue along the present course, the safety of American troops in the region, of our friends and allies like Israel and the moderate Arab states, and a significant portion of the world’s supply of oil will all be put at hazard.

In my opinion, that is the key passage in the 1998 letter, and what this war is about. Yes, it's about Israel too, and about the "moderate" Arab states, and about liberating the Iraqi people, but even all of these reasons taken together would not have sent one US Marine to Iraq.

However, a nuclear conflagration in the Middle East was an unacceptably high risk if Saddam had been allowed to continue his WMD programs. Modern industrialized nations cannot live without oil. It's about our own survival, pure and simple.

The Salon article is just anti-Semitic garbage. Maybe it will earn them another "bridge loan" from an "unnamed" (i.e., Saudi) investor, but no amount of artificial life support can hide the fact that Salon is finished, kaput, dead.
