The only problem I really have with it is how it sometimes fosters some people to take a shortcut and bash the newbie--for being new--if they offer a lousy argument in a discussion. It's a lesser form of ad hominem I'd rather do without.

The flip side of that coin is those FReepers, including myself, who use the the FReeper # to welcome newbies to the forum.
