How can you have an authentic French restaurant in a country where the people bathe and use deodorant?

Hmmmm....I believe you may have found the answer to why the Frogs chain smoke.

I wonder if it was doing well before the political climate changed. Last weekend I went to a restaurant here in Chicago that serves French cuisine, and it was PACKED, as always. Restaurants close all the time. Maybe this one in NY was in poor financial condition already.

The French Restaurant in NYC is still an American business (I am assuming it is American owned) therefore why would I go out of my way to boycott it just because of its origins????? Like I said, boycott IMPORTED FRENCH products if you want, thats DIRECTLY aimed at FRANCE'S economy, not the USA's.

I'm not getting why this is a difficult for some to understand....

From what country do French restaurants import their expensive selections of wine?

"We'd be only hurting the US economy and our own communities.

You are kidding right? Let me see if I have this straight, because a French restaurant closes it's doors, everyone will just stop going out to eat? Lol, you might want to go back and study economics again. A little thing called supply and demand. The other restaurants(non-frog) will get that business and thus have to hire more folks. And low and behold, the money stays here instead of going to help the froggies who so enjoy stabbing Americans in the back.

Well put. I'm not buying French wine right now, but I continue to drink it from my existing stock. Pouring it out would only hurt me, not them.

To what extent do you think that high-end French restaurants use IMPORTED FRENCH ingredients. Probably quite a few (wine, truffles, butter).

I, for one, am not boycotting French restaurants, I'm just not going because I have no desire to support or celebrate anything French.

Then by all means allow me to explain. There are NO, Four Star French Restaurants, that do not use imported French wines and cheeses. NONE!

so dont order the wine....I STILL am not going to boycott an American business just because of the type of food it serves.

Comically overpriced restaurants in similarly costly hotels are natural losers in the current economy. This really has nothing to do with France/politics, but is purely the outcome of the collapse in travel and contraction in entertainment budgets.

Attention everyone, most restaurants in America are owned by AMERICANS! who are born in America, where most food products, silverware, furniture, are bought in America, who employ Americans (your waitress) and taxes paid to America. Do you really believe that only native Frenchmen own French Restaurants, Native Italians own Italian Restaurants, etc.

We boycott French restaurants and still buy our gas and newspapers, whose stores are primarily owned by Muslims which are the people behind the blowing up our twin towers where over 3,000 Americans were killed and will cost 100 Billion to clean up and rebuild, go figure. But what ever you do, don't eat at French Restaurants, LOL. Yea, go eat at those Chinese restaurants where they have dozens of nuclear bombs pointed at the west coast of America, where they torture and kill their citizens, where Communists rule, where forced abortions and sterilizations occur, yep, lets boycott these Chinese Restaurants where all the atrocities in China will stop, I think not.

Say what you want to about their politics, but the French are masters of certain things: wine, fine cuisine, asking what is right and what is good rather than just what is quickest and cheapest. Check out Rod Dreher's column on this at http://www.nationalreview.com/dreher/dreher031103.asp

"We carried it as long as we could. Any reopening will be determined by the pace of the economic recovery."

Sounds like something that Slaartibartfast of the planet Magrathea would say.

Hmmm... I'm surprised to see the restaurant close. Are things that bad? I know many on Wall Street are out of work.

I like French food. I prefer it to anything Wolfgang Puck and his ilk create.
