We could have probably brought down that statue for a lot less. I applaud that sentiment. I think that most people would agree that Pelosi's statement has the ring of a taunt from a 16-year-old. It's an unserious, snotty remark that trivializes the incredible heroic accomplishments that we all just witnessed, by thousands of young American men and women who were literally risking their lives. It's just the thing we need from the Democratic leadership. I am certain that her remark is considered the height of wit in the circles where she travels. But I am just as certain that the entire worldview and attitude that gives rise to such statements is loathsome to sixty or seventy per cent of the voting-age population. The Democrats are headed for one of the great political trainwrecks, and they don't even seem to know it. It's as if they go to their little cocktail parties, joke with one another, and assume that the atmosphere in the room is representative of the American people. Are they ever in for a shock. |
Very well said. The Dems have sunk to a new low with this one. I didn't think that was possible.
