Ya, when I put my tinfoil hat on (it helps me think sometimes)I get ideas about the Chinese trying to control their population while doing the least amount of damage to their economy.
But the problem is, SARS is not lethal enough to take a big enough bite out of their population to make the effort worthwhile. On a cost/benefit ratio, it's more of a cost because of the panic that it would create.
On the other hand, maybe it's just a test run. If this is SARS-lite, the next generation might be something to be more concerned about.
