At first they cheered, smiled, offered hearty thumbs-ups to the U.S. soldiers newly in their midst. But across Iraq's lawless capital, that sentiment is evaporating as quickly as Saddam Hussein's government melted away.
It continues if you can stomach it...

"The coalition forces are responsible. Where is the law?" said Safa Hussein Qasim, 44, a jeweler. "This is the promise of the United States to Iraq? This is democracy in Baghdad?" He's just pissy because his market dried up. Only Ba'athists could afford jewelry.

I can't stomach it. But thank you for letting us know that some at the AP still have a seething hatred of the U.S.

I stated the answer to this article this afternoon on regional radio. There has NEVER been, in the history of mankind, a war in which there was not looting at some point. In wars, civil structure breaks down. And when that happens, hatreds or greed rise to the surface and this occurs.
This applies, of course, in certain times and places to all three wars fought on American soil -- the Revolution, the War of 1812, and the Civil War. And it also has applied one or more times in the 20th Century in most of the major cities in the United States.
This article demonstrates that the writer and his editor are dumb as a sack of hammers about the history of war generally, and about American history specifically. Nothing more.

There has NEVER been, in the history of mankind, a war in which there was not looting at some point. There has never been, in the history of mankind, a national sports championship won in Detroit, Michigan in which there was not looting at some point.
Or in Syracuse New York, for that matter.

Pretty sure the first Wings victories in the 50's, and 90's and 01' did not result in looting.
I wont even state the ones that looting did result in. I'd be labeled all racist and stuff.

Love the pics, as always.
I'm just now skimming the Daily Thread for this very day, and this morning someone posted that Dr.Bob Arnot reported on MSNBC that some in Saddam City want to rename it George City.
Such resentment.

Wow, just imagine if the US was looting Baghdad, the way the French and Russians did Berlin at the end of WWII?
What would the press say?
To: The Real Eddie01
Baghdad was bursting with anti-American feeling Saturday as residents saw their city being stripped by its own citizens while U.S. forces stood by, rarely intervening and in some cases even motioning treasure-laden men through checkpoints. These yellow journalism bottom feeders really hate this country with a passion. They really do.

How can we get the AP to hear our criticism? I know the AP website has some generic feedback form, but I've used it several times with no response. I doubt it makes a difference. Does anyone have the e-mail contact for some AP executives? Please post them if you do. This reporter is obviously peddling his politics in place of responsible reporting; he's not telling the whole story, conveniently leaving out the adulation that many Iraqis have for the US troops.
