April 13, 2003 -- AS SAYLIYA CAMP, Qatar - None of the missing servicemen listed as prisoners of war have been found, despite searches of Iraqi prisons, U.S. military officials said yesterday. Brig. Gen. Vincent Brooks said the collapse of Saddam Hussein's rule meant ordinary Iraqis were starting to provide information to U.S.-led forces, some of which could help locate the POWs.

Marines find six U.S. prisoners of war -report
BAGHDAD, April 13 (Reuters) - U.S. forces pushing north from Baghdad have found six U.S. prisoners of war who are now safe with a Marine unit, CNN reported on Sunday.
The television network quoted a reported traveling with the U.S. forces, James Kitfield of the National Journal, as saying information was still sketchy.
"Word just got through... They are alive and I don't have more information than that," Kitfield said in a telephone interview on CNN.
A spokesman for U.S. Central Command said there was no immediate confirmation of the report. "Right now we don't have any information on that. We hope it's true," said spokesman Captain Stewart Upton.

So often I see the Post and enjoy seeing their take.
This time, with the "Breaking: POWs found" story being posted only 20 minutes after this story was, it seems they will have a bit of fun poked at them, and deservedly so, but they certainly won't be alone.

The Post published this story hours ago. It was only posted here 20 minutes ago.
The news of the POWs being found is breaking now.
The Post is good, but they don't have any mind readers on their staff, so far as I know.

Oh, I know that, kat... but nevertheless this headline breaking just as they get the story in print is not good timing for them, and it saddens me a bit.

To show you how cynical I've become about the media, I assumed from the title that it would be the NYT responding to the MIA/POW report and complaining that we had failed because we only found 6(7). I've just come to expect the worst from the press in general.

One of the soldiers picked up was a black woman. Only 1 that I know of missing. Lord sure works quick...
