Iraq to reporter: we'll cut off your hands (Baghdad Bob)

AMMAN, Jordan, April 14 (UPI) -- A Jordanian journalist said Monday that Iraqi Information Minister Mohammed Said al-Sahhaf threatened to cut off his hands over a report on the advance of U.S. forces on Baghdad.

Majed Abdel Hadi, a correspondent for the Qatari al-Jazeera television, told United Press International that al-Sahhaf, who has vanished since American troops entered Baghdad last week, stormed the channel's offices in Baghdad and threatened to cut off his hands and dump him in the desert if he kept on reporting that the U.S. forces were approaching the Iraqi capital.

Abdel Hadi said al-Sahhaf "accused me of being a U.S. agent and asked me to deny the content of my reports."

Abdel Hadi arrived in Amman a few days ago with the body of his colleague Tarek Ayyoub who was killed last Tuesday during the U.S. bombing of al-Jazeera office in Baghdad.

I knew Baghdad Bob was just as bad as the rest..We laughed at his lies but he was simply spouting the lies that CNN had no problem with before the war made them come clean.

I guess Bob really did turn out to be a proponent of "diarmament."

If Baghdad Bob had reported the truth, he would have been beheaded. That's how the Butcher works it.

I think that by the time Baghdad Bob was spouting his nonsense the Butcher had already been butchered

We still don't know that. Has anyone heard us formally take responsibility for that incident?

Damn!
You mean the clown wasn't pretending?

That sure rubs of the veneer off likeability rather quickly, doesn't it.

They're still working on statements of responsibility for each individual death in World War I.

Moron!

Wasn't it later established that the Iraqis had placed heavy artillery next to the al-Jazeera office, which was the intended target of U.S. bombs?

So, Jazeera was also blackmailed and terrorized, just like poor CNN was all these years?

I guess it's easy to try to excuse oneself with this blather. CNN and Jazeera should have both withdrawn and reported why they did so. Neither has a shred of credibility left in the wake of what they've done and the feeble excuses they're offering for acting as Saddam's propaganda bureaus.

I still don't know why we didn't take Bob out sooner. He was out in the open every day for about a week. I'm concerned we have left a lot of the top criminals escape. Even if they haven't left the country, it will still take so time to track down. Let's hope we got a bunch in that bombing last week. Has anyone heard any update yet on that site? Have we secured it and starting looking for remains?

Makes me wonder if he told the Al Jazeera audience the same story, I sincerely doubt it, it wouldn't fit with the "misinformation campaign" they've been running on the ARAB world. THEY ARE LIARS!!!!!!

I haven't heard about excavation of the site.Bob was a useful idiot with his lies exposed to the Arab world. We weren't in control of his side of the river. We may or may not know where he is but notice the heat Syria is getting.
