I wonder if the flight attendants were given a cup of saki and a "rising sun" bandana before they committed their kamikaze vote?

Flight Attendants Reject Proposed Agreement
UPDATED - Tuesday April 15, 2003 3:23pm

Tulsa - The Association of Professional Flight Attendants has narrowly rejected a proposed wage and benefit concession agreement seen as a way to help American Airlines avoid bankruptcy.

Earlier today, the pilots union and transport workers union approved the concession agreements that called for up to 17.5 percent wage cuts, benefit cuts and some layoffs.

American Airlines says if all three unions do not ratify the agreements, the company will file bankruptcy soon after. If the company declares bankruptcy, it could result in another 8 to 10 thousand job losses.

AMR, American Airlines' parent company, said today that it may allow the flight attendants union to revote if it were the only one of the three to reject the agreement.

Tulsa has a one-billion dollar stake in American Airlines. The airline's payroll in Tulsa is 500 million dollars. The residual income impact -- checks to local businesses and individuals who do business with the airline -- is estimated at about 669-million.

American also pays in about three million dollars in sales taxes to Tulsa each year.

Given that the other two unions have swallowed the bitter pill, I think it again raises the question of women as emotional creatures.
