Most of this stuff was, as this author suggests, an open secret. Any investigative reporter who cared to could have put together a story on it. But none of them cared to, and few media outlets would have cared to publish it.
That goes for the Globe and Mail as much as any other liberal news outlet. For whatever reason, the tribe of the politically correct were determined to close ranks and defend Saddam. They didn't want to know about little problems like systematic rape of prisoners or torture of children. As the saying goes, "What you don't know can't hurt you." Especially if you are a liberal.
The National Post was on the right side of this war. The Globe and Mail was not.
