The secret genuis is that this is a minor issue and needs to be fought out in Congress. If the bill doesn`t cross GWB`s desk, it ain`t going to be law. This is a big country with lots of voters that don`t understand all the gun control issues. The Rats would love to have Bush say he is going to overturn the law. We need to help Bush and anti-anti gun grabbers in 04, thats the real prize. Better that this piece by directed to how to move Congress

Why? Do they want to lose their seats? If Bush overturns the law, he wins in a landslide.

This is a post from DU supporting the ban. Read it carefully. According to this poster he has no problem with guns that fire one bullet per pull of trigger, just not "semi-automatic" weapons. Geeesh!!!

well, I'd take it down a couple of more levels . . . let individuals own any firearm that fires no more than one bullet for each pull of the trigger . . . that eliminates automatic and semi-automatic weapons, but leaves a whole range of stuff available for hunters and anyone who wants a gun for personal protection . . . that way everyone maintains the right to own a firearm -- as long as it's not one that's intended for or usable for mass killings . . . wouldn't that make sense? .
