When They Hate You, They Hate You
Jewish World Review ^ | 4/17/03 | Greg Crosby

For all fair-minded Americans who have been holding their breath waiting for the left-wing naysayers to finally admit that they might have been wrong about the Iraq war and the motives for war by President Bush, you'd better all start breathing now -- because it ain't gonna happen.

Many democrats, members of the elite media, academia, and the Hollywood crowd don't really care WHY we went to war or WHAT Bush's motives might have been, or even what will happen to Iraq in the aftermath of war. None of that was ever really the point of their protests.

The main reason the left was AGAINST going to war was because President Bush was FOR it! It's just that simple. Think about it. Why were there no protests when President Clinton bombed the Middle East (without UN approval or a vote in congress)? Why were there no anti-war marches when President Clinton sent our troops to war in Bosnia and Kosovo (again without UN approval or a vote in congress)?

Simply put, the protesters didn't care because Clinton was the darling of the left and nothing he did was wrong in their eyes -- even suborning perjury, lying to the American people, using the Lincoln bedroom to collect money for the democratic party, selling atomic secrets to communist China, and committing acts of adultery with a young intern in the Oval Office on taxpayer time. He could do no wrong. He was their boy!

George W. Bush, on the other hand is definitely NOT their boy. He is the anti-Clinton. And because of that the left hate him. They hate him not so much for what he does but for what he isn't. He isn't Bill Clinton. He isn't Al Gore. And he most certainly isn't Ralph Nader.

But the left can't just come out and say, "We don't like Bush because he isn't Bill Clinton" -- that would sound stupid. And saying "We don't like Bush because he isn't Al Gore" sounds even more stupid. So the best thing for them to do is to demonize him. And that's just what they do. They started demonizing him before he was even nominated to run for president. Remember what they said about him back then?

"Who is George W. Bush, anyway? What do we know about him?"

"George W. Bush is a dummy."

"George W. Bush is a one-term governor with no experience in politics who is running for president because his father was president and he has connections."

"George W. Bush is a dummy."

"George W. Bush is an ultra-right wing conservative who wants to keep minorities down."

"George W. Bush is a dummy."

"George W. Bush is a rich frat boy who just wants to party."

"George W. Bush is a dummy."

But none of that demonization had any effect and Bush went on to receive the republican nomination for president. That, however, didn't stop the nasty mantra from the left. The insults, allegations, and scare tactics only intensified. . . .

Good article.

As important as the "When they hate you..." theme is the "Why they hate you..." reason.

Conservative Republicans believe in reasoned discourse using facts and logic to produce an equitable rule of law. Liberal Democrats believe in naked power.

Conservative Republicans believe in the sovereignty of the individual. Liberal Democrats believe in all power to the state...another way of saying naked power.

Conservative Republicans stand in the way of Liberal Democrats acquiring naked power.

It's that simple. It's that sad.

The left can't find anything better than:

"George W. Bush is a dummy."

...as hard as they've tried. Which is, as I recall, the exact same stuff they spouted about Reagan. The dumb actor who restored the American economy, confidence, gave us the longest peacetime expansion in history, stopped inflation, won the Cold War...yep, what a pair of idiots. :p

Let them keep on with it. If it keeps up, GW will surpass even Reagan in greatness...

Bahahahahaha I just spat water all over the screen. :p

Anyone remember the sideline interview where they asked him about that? Another good parallel to draw...as I recall, he answered, "He. He hate me." -- "Who? Why does he hate you?" -- "He just hate me".

(tangent: what was the NFL team that picked up He Hate Me? I can't remember)

The schism has frightening historical parallels; think Serbs and Bosnians, or abolitionists and Southerners. The election of Hillary in 2008 will have much the same effect as the election of Lincoln in 1860. Let us enjoy our world hegemony while we have it. I fear we will not last as top dog much longer.

The democrats hate Bush because he has the power they want. Arabs hate America because we have the world power they want. Same motivations for both destructive groups - jealousy, greed, and lust for power.

Sometimes you just can't win ... no matter how many times you win.

Well, as a believer we can see how God lost our love too, He who had a real creative stake in us, creative in the sense of creating a moral loyal being. At least we can console ourselves with the fact that losing the love of the left or of Bin Laden is a good thing in some ways, and in other ways we do not lose anything, because we never created them, we just feel sorry for God to have to deal with these people...

That said, it is scary, because who knows what deals the left has done today that will come and haunt us for future generations. Imagined your own liberal dad or mum having drug and gambling debt, dying, and then, you, as a child, having to pay back the thugs.... now why do you think the left is so intent on enforcing their crap? It's because they want us to pay for their misdeeds and investments, they want us to reimburse their "lovers", heck, the mafia thugs that vote for them and are after them as we speak.

This is the Clinton "slick" legacy for you... bunch of losers who will be damned by God because they make it impossible to forgive them so crafty, unrepentant, unconfessing and dissimulating they are. Liberals have to be shown in a mirror the future and the gates of hell opening for them and the future generations.... yeah, right, none of the original sin and inherited punishment is right, but it's true, it simply is true. May not seem right, but it's true just as ice melts when it's warm.

I'm not devoutly religious, but I do believe in a God, and...

bunch of losers who will be damned by God because they make it impossible to forgive them

...I just don't agree with that. As much as I hate liberals, I am not about to say that they are all "damned by God" and beyond forgiveness (I forgive -- but I don't forget, let me put it that way :p).

This is something I call Zero-Issue Politics.

The Left has embraced a notion even more scabrous than "the ends justify the means." Remember that one? They've used it to justify Communism's oppressions and murders for a whole century. Stalin's murders were okay because he was building a better world. Pol Pot's murders were okay because he was cleaning up a mess from the American incursion into Southeast Asia. Mao's murders were okay because...well...he was Mao. Wrote a book and everything.

But the promised ends never materialized. What, then?

The Left's modern posture, which is just one step away from the proclamation of Sauron as God, is:

Our good intentions justify our means.

They mean well. Therefore, they should have total power over the rest of us, and never be held to account for their "mistakes."

If the Left dislikes you for any reason, it attacks your intentions. It doesn't matter what you really intend, or what you achieve, or what moral strictures you observe. "You don't mean well" is the fountainhead of Leftist opposition, and you can do nothing about it.

To the Left, George W. Bush is the epitome of evil. He's not a Leftist, he backs away from absolutely nothing, he does what he says he'll do, he takes responsibility for the consequences of his decisions, and people seem to love him. Worse than all of that, he snatched a narrow victory away from their favored boy, Al Gore, who was ready to turn the whole country into a prison-state for a 3% reduction in our annual CO2 emissions. Gore meant well, you see.

Is it any wonder that these people can't accept the evidence of their senses?

Never bet against America. You'll lose. ;-)

We withstood eight years of Clinton. We could do it again with Hillary, although I pray we don't have to. We are a resilient, optimistic people, and, despite our follies, a force for good. If our "days as top dog" aren't going to last much longer -- it's not just a loss for America, it's a loss for the *world*.

I am STILL...cautiously optimistic. :-)

Liberal Democrats believe in naked power.

Very well put, but I would add, Liberal Democrats want a monopoly on Naked Power.

My sole point was that it is difficult to forgive someone for evil acts you and I do not even know they did. It is the essense of the original sin and the consequences of dissimulating it to future generations, for only the snake and now the descendant, know the datas of the case.

The main reason the left was AGAINST going to war was because President Bush was FOR it!

And because they couldn't see any further than their own selves, people were killed. It's the same with Chirac. His hatered of anything American and his desire for power caused Saddam not to come clean. The blood of this war is on their hands.
