Thank you for the appropro calendar page. We have been experiencing April showers and have been rejoicing over them....

At the risk of sounding hopeless shallow, I especially love the border of golden crosses embedded in the white and purple. It's beautiful.

Dutchess, Finest FReepers All, please allow me to use my full ping list to get a bit sappy today....
Today's thread, and all our previous threads before this make my heart nearly burst with pride. When I say how much I appreciate all of you - Lori, daisy, dansy, dutchess for your incredible presentations; and JohnHuang and Free, for your incredible weekly and/or semi-weekly writings and essays; Aquamarine, Ladtx, jwfiv, Pippin, LadyX, Freedom'sWorthIt, Libertina, MollyPitcher, JustAmy, DiverDave, Louie, WVNan for your wonderful help in writing a profile or sharing a story; and those who started with us ten months ago and are still with us today; those we've picked up along the way; not to mention all those who've graciously stepped into the spotlight - I mean it from the bottom of my heart. I APPRECIATE YOU!
Kudos, Sistah Dutchess, your presentation today has to be 'right up there' with the best we've had.

Dutchess, you did a beautiful job here.
Funny -- one of the things I wanted to do this Lent was post The Stations of the Cross.
Now I am so happy that I didn't!
God bless you on this Good Friday and during the Easter season.

This was copied off the Presidentail Prayer Team web-site:
"President Cites the "Power of Prayer" in POW Safety
Returning from Camp David on Sunday, President Bush was asked after getting off the helicopter what role faith and prayer had in the rescue of the POWs and in comforting their families. He said, "A lot of them told me they had been sustained by prayer, been comforted by the Almighty during what had to have been very difficult times. They told me that they felt their prayers had been answered. Prayer is powerful."
According to the Washington Times, "Family members had told Mr. Bush that they relied on prayer to bring about the safe return of their loved ones."
The President's words, "Prayer is powerful," were echoed by many of the families of the POW's released on Palm Sunday. David Williams, Sr., father of Apache helicopter pilot David Williams, Jr. said, "I let God and the Army work together to bring my son home...(our) prayers have been answered."
Kaye Young, mother of POW Ronald Young, Jr., said she was comforted early on by the belief that, "If prayer can bring him home, he'll be here. And it did!" How refreshing to see so many people attributing the quick war and few American fatalities to prayer. Prayer truly is powerful!"
There was also a new patriotic song that has been released named 'I Thank You' (Salute To The Troops) by popular Christian recording artist Rebecca St. James.

That was so beautiful. It took me back to my youth as we went to a Church that had stained glass windows that each had a different stage of the cross in them.
I don't think that Church is there anymore.. but boy.. did this ever bring back some wonderful memories.
Going to Church today at noon.
I missed Maundy Thursday service this year. So it was really neat to wake up to this thread.
Thanks so much dutchess!! We really enjoyed this. What a gift.

How can I express the emotions that are running through my mind and my heart. I'm Episcopalian and the Stations of the Cross is an important part of our Easter Celebration.
Having no car, I am unable to attend the various services that are held in the church, so in a sense, I am attending services now. I belong to the High Episcopal Church, so many of the services are the same as the Catholic.
I don't remember my Grandmother, who was raised Episcopal but married a Baptist and then became one herself talking about doing this in her Church.
My other brother, Mikel, is a Minister in the Baptist Church so I will have to ask him. I forwarded last thread to him and will be doing so with this one.
This is such a beautiful thread. I can't say the best, because they have all been exceptional in there on way, just as this is.
Thank you from the botton of my heart.
