[history]
No sooner did coalition forces in Baghdad arrest Palestinian terror kingpin Mohammed (Abu) Abbas than PLO leader Yasser Arafat demanded his immediate release, claiming he enjoyed immunity from prosecution for his murderous track record.
No dice, said the White House - and quite correctly.

Why is it that the Palestinians are trying so hard to free Abu Abbas (last paragraph of the article)? One reason could be that he could speak volumes about the ties among and between Arafat, Hussein, and various terrorist organizations. Ties that Arafat would not like being made public, especially now.

We have first claim. He murdered an American citizen and in American law there is no limit on when murder can be prosecuted. Try him and fry him and have the Italians and Israelis pick up what's left over after we're through.

I heard this story the other day on NPR (I know, I know) and worried that the PLO would get their way - glad to see that justice may get her chance.
Thanks for the post.

First of all, let's get the information he has. Then the lawyers and the politicians can decide in their infinite "wisdom" what to do with him. There are several options: trial in the U. S. for involvement in a hijacking that led to the murder of an American national; extradiction to Italy, which convicted him in abstentia; trial before an international tribunal for crimes against humanity; even tial in Israel for crimes against Israeli nationals that occurred after the "amnesty agreement". All claims have merit; all have drawbacks. But, to be repetitive, first get the information.
