I would expect -- and even want -- Schumer to denounce this rumor. Right now, it IS a rumor until Brill releases his detailed documentation. He's got to do that in the next few days, or his own credibility will be shot.
If the memos support what the article says, then the only things that Hillary will be able to do are to argue (i) the memos are forged, or (ii) a subordinate prepared the faked memos without her knowledge or consent. I don't think that anyone will believe this for a minute without credible proof.
This will be proved or disproved long before the next election.
Hillary doesn't have to do squat. Check the article. This rumor is about Hillary dissing Schumer over 9/11.
Thus, *Schumer* can denounce this rumor at the timing of his convenience and this issue goes completely away from being directed against Hillary... regardless of what she does or what various dry, boring memos say.
Denouncing this rumor, if it came from Schumer, *would* give Hillary a national popularity boost.
...And Brill, a known Clinton fan, is the one who floated it in the first place.
Just remember, you trap your prey by baiting it with something that it *wants*. Well, Conservatives want more and more dirt on the already-dirty Clintons, and a few such Conservatives (certainly those at Newsmax) may be so hungry for publicity and juicy anti-Clinton gossip that they take the cheese and spring such a trap.
