February 6, 2003 -- URS Corporation announced today that its EG&G/Lear Siegler division was awarded an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract with the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) located at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey to provide engineering and logistics services for military weapons platforms.

August 23, 2002 -- George Melton, President & CEO of EG&G announced today that URS Corporation completed the acquisition of EG&G Technical Services Holdings, L.L.C. (EG&G Technical Services, Inc. and Lear Siegler Services, Inc.). This transaction significantly strengthens URS' position as a federal contractor and enhances our growth profile, principally in national and homeland defense.

It doesn't take a great brain to figure that the most experienced company in WMD distruction would be a good cantidate for lucrative Govt. contracts, therefore, a good acquisition cantidate.

I wish I had thought of it when Iraq had started boiling up.

Richard Blum, BS 58, MBA 59, founder of the long-term investment company and merchant bank Richard C. Blum and Associates, has aided the turnaround of URS Corporation, Consolidated Oil & Gas, Black & Decker, and Northwest Airlines. His business also helped fund one of his life passions: the welfare of the Himalayan people. A friend of the Dalai Lama and Everest climber, Blum created the Himalaya Foundation in 1980 to fund cultural, educational, medical, environmental, and energy projects that help people on both sides of the Himalaya Mountains.
