''Isn't it a sad commentary on the art of legislating and lawmaking today?'' Snowe asked. ''Is that what we've been reduced to in America?''

Ummmm Senator what WE THE PEOPLE want is that you idiots up on the Hill to reduce spending OUR MONEY

What part of WE WANT OUR MONEY BACK do you not understand?

In a Senate where Republicans hold a slim 51-49 majority, their opposition effectively thwarted party leaders' efforts to push through a tax cut larger than $350 billion.

No one should believe this. This is the media declaring victory on behalf of the Democrats without bothering to read the fine print. Either they don't know what's going on, or they are spewing their own wishful thinking as a fait accompli.

The "deal" that Snowe struck is with Senator Grassley. It is not a Frist deal, it is not a House deal, and it is most certainly not a Bush deal.

There is a fairly large crew of (mostly) Treasury Department officials touring the country right now to build momentum for what looks to be an interesting legislative donnybrook.

Those of you in Cleveland can see Under Secretary for Domestic Finance Peter R. Fisher at:

The City Club of Cleveland
850 Euclid Avenue, 2nd Floor
Cleveland, OH
Thursday, April 24, 2003 12:00 p.m. EDT

Please come and show your support for lower taxes.

I hope to get more of this schedule shortly, and will post it when I do.

Have just faxed to George Voinovich 1-202-228-1382.

Street Address

Senator George Voinovich
B34-1 Dirksen Senate Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20510

Senator Voinovich

Your obstruction of the Republican tax cut puts YOU outside the mainstream of the Republican Party.

You have aligned yourself with Tom Daschle against President Bush.

You are at diametric poles with our own Senator Pete Domenici on this matter--the difference is Senator Domenici is a man of integrity with America's interests uppermost.

Our economy needs the stimulus of a tax cut.

Why are you putting YOUR interests ahead of America's?

The MAINSTREAM of your supposed party wants to know.

That's simple robbery!

No, that's politics. If you want the Pork List, go to Forbes.com and search on IBM. There's an article talking about pork--and mentioning a Gummint gift to IBM of several dozen millions of dollars for "research."

What ever turned her into a RINO, I have no idea

I'm beginning to think that blackmail has had a lot to do with a lot of RINO conversions....there are no other valid explanations.

Well at least the Club for Growth got the empty headed socialist's attention.

Madame Dufarge wrote Snow about this in November. She got the form letter blah, blah reply two weeks ago!

I hate writing to them. All you get back is how THEY are going to do it, like it or not!

No, I mean the traditional blackmail.

Remember that Clinton publicized Henry Hyde's infidelity during the impeachment proceedings??

Well, it was a 'shot across the bows.' Clinton had all those handy little FBI files and knew EXACTLY what all the Congresscritters/Senators had done, with whom, and how many times.

That stuff is still out there and can/will be used if necessary.

I am not stating that Snowe has a guilt problem--but there's an awful lot of unexplained wimpiness out there (e.g., Lott...)
