I'm having flashbacks to my predictions of flamethrowers in biohaz suits when Bin Laden and Homeland Security started.

Sounds like animal trade day at the First Monday in Ripley, Mississippi. It is not uncommon for diseases that are endemic in the animal population to be dispersed at animal trade days and sales. As another poster mentioned, we are in for this sort of viral mutation every twenty years or so. Every once in awhile, the disease is significant and causes a plague.
