My prediction: the AIDS lobby cannot help themselves, they feel everyone is out to get them anyway and they cannot stand to take a backseat to anyone in the realm of "whose disease is worse". They will be aghast at the idea that anyone would place SARS higher on the "Scary" list than AIDS and will work to keep funding for SARS (research, education, etc) from happening. Just a guess, of course.

Absolutely correct. To the AIDS lobby, this will be seen as a conspiracy to grab up "their" dollars and shove them to the side.
