I still don't think this will reach critical mass here in the states but Bejing is not looking too good right now.

I'd be interested in your rationale for feeling this won't break out in the US. I want to believe you're right, give me a reason for hoping so.

I believe Bush will have the guts to do what is necessary in the case of this disease. Singapore and Hong Kong seem to be controlling this disease to controllable levels under much worse conditions than there is anywhere except in NYC. We don't have the mass public transportation (except in the North East) and crowded living conditions (especially like Hong Kong and China). The vast majority of the country commutes in their own vehicle and does not live in huge population densities. What we consider crowded here is nothing compared to these locales that seem to be controlling the numbers.

I am not saying this will make America immune. It just is not as fertile a ground for an epidemic of this type.

Pray I am right. If I am wrong you may not be around to gloat.
