The Harrisburg Patriot News Decoursey reports that Senator Rick Santorums (R-PA) defenders are now under gag order.

Santorum. I notice he's stopped digging too.

Now everyone is fair game.

The gays would not have attacked if Lott stayed ? Give me a break.

My worry now is that someone like Sens. Chaffee or Collins will open their traps and start this ball rolling again.

Snow, Chaffee, and McCain are now firmly tied together.

I imagine her Bishop will have something to say about her comments.

They are the only ones speaking.

I agree, but a public statement like that would just dominate the news cycle until Friday when the magazines come out.

We need the Blixie Chicks on the covers, not Sen. Santorum.

Following Hootie Johnson's courageous example, this is an opportunity for the "Right" to say, "Trent Lott was the last scalp you're gonna get."

Following Hootie Johnson's courageous example means recognizing that the government should not be social engineers, even when you agree with whatever value they are trying to impose on private clubs/citizens.

Problem is, most Republicans can't defend conservatism, and the RNC knows we can't have these boobs running around, getting distracted, getting cornered, and blowing it.

Think about it.

How many of them would you want defending your First Amendment right and this sleazy hatchet job?

Nickels is the only one I would trust. The rest are disgraceful on camera.

There is a big diffence between this issue and Lott. most GOP'ers disagrees with what Lott said and most GOP'ers as well as a large number of Rats agree with Santorum. This is not the same level at all.

I disagree, I think JC Watts of Oklahoma could defend the position correctly if asked (isn't he a real reverend from college?))

If it is, a lot of people are seriously in need of spines.

I can't read the article, but if the White House has told the Pubs to shut up, that's good news. Santorum position is sound and he does not need other Pubs blathering about it.

If there's no reaction, there's no story.

DNC and Media risk beating a dead horse

(or repeating a dead story)

Why regulate sodomy if you have no intention of enforcing laws against it? sinkspur You, of all the posters at FR, ought to know the best answer for that; if a behvaior is proscribed in law, any legal case that has the additional link to the proscribed behavior can be brought to bear on the case at hand ... such as 'consenting adults', one (or both) of whom has AIDs but doesn't tell his partners and is brought to court under suit, his illicit behavior is first breaking the law proscribing sodomy, or bigamy, or adultery, thus the law is more able to deter such bevahiors the society chooses to proscribe. Defend this effort to corrode yet another right the states have in proscribing behaviors, but the realities of legal prosecutions doesn't mean there have to be 'bedroom cops' in order for the proscriptions to be useful. Frankly, I'm getting tired of this omission in reasoning this out properly. I stand 110% behind Santorum's assertions and his perspective designed to defend the institutions of our society rather than carve out further corrosions of the society, for special interest groups.

I wasnt comapring directly what Lott said versus Santorum, just the strategy involved to diffuse the controversy (which you probably picked up on anyway)

Santorum is speaking about core beliefs of millions upon millions of Americans

ewing, I do hope you're right and that the plan works.

Perhaps Santorum is "in on the strategery." I just hope he isn't being left high and dry.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a positive? But for the intimidation tactics of the gaystapo, many people would be saying what Santorum said and more. People who answer polls will say "I don't care what so and so does in their bedroom," but don't kid yourself, they see the connection. People just don't like conflict and they don't want to be labeled so they keep quiet. The very few people I know who say they support any part of the gay agenda also say "but I think they are immoral." People know right from wrong. They just don't want to be called names. They will be glad a politician stood up for them. They will applaud Santorum even in silence.

Let them.

Do they want to p1$$ off the suburban moms who, while they are pro-abortion, are VEHEMENTLY ANTI-GAY?? Most moms were gay-tolerant before they had children.
