a senior French diplomat responded tartly: "We are not forcing anyone to spend the night in France. "It amazes me that he doesn't realise the Swiss government was extremely hostile to war. They didn't even allow overflight rights for American planes."
The Swiss had the good sense to stay out of our way and shut up about it.

hmmm, I don't know what to say about the Swiss. Gonna have to brush up on thier issues with no fly zone for us.

Because of traditional Swiss neutrality, they would not have allowed American ground convoys to travel in their territory either. They didn't allow the Americans, French, British, Italians, or Germans in WWII to travel on or over their land. This is nothing new.
