Gee, ya think?
The same virus that is the common cold but it kills four out of ten. In third world countries that will be double or triple. How many times have you caught a cold in your life? We have the same odds of avoiding this virus. Yeah it's going to affect the economy all right. Big time. But how important is the economy when you are dead?
It will take a couple years to sweep the planet but then it will probably mutate just like the flu does and come around again. And again. It does not look good.

There are multiple common cold viruses. People catch colds over and over. There haven't been any reports of anyone coming down with SARS twice. Yet.
