I got to know Skaggs some 25 years ago when I brought him to Washington, D. C. as part of the group Boone Creek for bluegrass music. While he has done country and western, his first love has always been bluegrass. He is one of the world's top musicians. He can play mandolin, fiddle, guitar, banjo and other instruments all remarkably well.

Absolutely! If anybody gets a chance to hear Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder (his bluegrass band) I promise you won't be disappointed. You'll be knocked out by how great they are.

Eyup!!

He sure can!! Skaggs played with Earl Scruggs as a very young man. I think he was also with Bill Monroe for a while (although prolly playing something other than mandolin with Bill). The duet album he did with Tony Rice in the early 80's is still some of the finest stuff around.

I once saw Ricky Skaggs performing on a PBS (I was just channel surfing, I swear!) special, and his banjo-picking was so fast it was unreal! I'd go see him in concert, and not just because of his faith.

Ricky Skaggs is the genuine article and I don't think he gets near enough credit for the work he does, but on the other hand Rick is the not kind of guy that looks for credit. May G_d bless him, his family and his work.
