The government must adopt tougher controls and make it a rule to stop personal travel from China, allowing passage in exceptional cases only. This is quite a statement of how serious they seedthis problem. There are a lot of business interests on the mainland and this will hurt them economically.

Twelve countries have given travel warnings about Taiwan as a SARS-affected area. It is imperative and understandable for the government to adopt quarantine measures against China.

Oops, that should have been: Twelve countries have given travel warnings about Taiwan as a SARS-affected area. The SARS situation in China is a thousand times more serious than it is here. It is imperative and understandable for the government to adopt quarantine measures against China.

Controlling traffic to and from Chinese cities will be impossible. The cities require food and the food is grown on small rural plots. Many farmers carry the food into the city on carts. There is little organized distribution and the food is sold in crowded open air markets.
Advocates of Sustainable Agriculture take note.
