Possibility of Find Lost Doctor Who In Iraq

Posted on 04/29/2003 10:50:58 AM PDT by miloklancy

I don't know if there are many of you out there who are fans of the long-running British Sci-Fi series Doctor Who. I have always been a fan and in fact my poster name is a mispelled version of character from a late 1960's Doctor Who story. Unfortunately the BBC did a terrible job of archiving early stories and many of the 1960's Doctor Who stories are simply lost. However now that Saddam Hussein is out of power, there is a distinct possiblity that these old stories may turn up. Many of these stories were sold overseas in Arab countries such as Iraq. If anyone knows of any information on the Brits possibly searching for these stories, I would be very interested to know. Granted this is probably the least of coalition forces priorities, but I'm just curious.

Give me a Jelly Baby and I'll tell you where to find his Tardis. Inside, you will have all the resource you need to 'recover' the first episodes. Besides, I want that K-9 as a house helper around my Tardis.

If we had the Tardis, we could go back in time and get some more babylonian relics, and they'd be in far better condition.

Hell, if we had the tardis, we could really sort out Islam....

Maybe you can tell me what the "secret word" is. I do not think the word in the script was "extra-dimensional", but I'll use as a substitute. I saw one episode where the good doctor invited a young lady into the tardis (which appears to be a tiny phone booth) and said something like:

"Don't worry, it's extra-dimensional."
The young lady enters and exclaims, "It's bigger on the inside than it is on the outside!"
The doctor smiles and says, "That's what I said, it's extra-dimensional."

I saw this years ago, and I've always wondered what the actual word was that meant "bigger on the inside than on the outside."

Calling all FR Whovians, please stop by my homepage, and click on the "TARDIS Console" button to visit my home-brew console.

New Episodes?

I know they do new radio plays, and there's even an internet based show soon with Sly McCoy, but I haven't heard of official word regarding new episodes.

So do we need to add the doctor to the Iraq Deck? And how many cards should we use?

Throughout the Doctor Who series they always referred to the TARDIS as being dimensional transindental, which the Doctor (any of the 8 actors playing the Doctor) said it meant it was bigger on the inside than out. The first Doctor Who story has something about you entering a different dimension than you are in when you are outside the TARDIS. Again I stress this is Sci-Fi and not a proper scientific explanation, but very entertaining stuff. I'm afraid in reality Doctor Who is very much fictional and quite impossible.
