Wait 'til they find out about Darkville, MO.

We have a Black River here in MO, as well..

To be perfectly safe and risk offending no one, I propose that we name everything using numbers. It could be an extension of the zip codes already in place, and would have the added benefit of being much more precise. So when someone asks where you are from, instead of responding with a potentially racially insensitive city name, you can reply, "I am from 30309-2673.962."

Sorry, it's Blue Ball Ohio. Now that I'm looking at postal codes, I'm seeing a whole hidden 'agenda' thing emerging (try this combo of states and see if it isn't scary) Ohio, Hawaii, Kentucky, Maine, Indiana, Delaware, Arizona!

OH HI KY ME IN DE AZ! That's a come on line if I ever heard one, and ALL these names should be changed forthwith!

I remember back in the early '70s driving through Alabama to get to the Florida panhandle and entering a highway called "The George C. Wallace Whiteway". I wonder if it is still there?

I wonder how people feel about Cow Shit Corner, Maine?

Should we also rename the Grand Tetons?

What about these Newfoundland place names: Dildo, Come-by-Chance, Virgin Tickle?

I never knew about those names. Interesting. Wonder what the history is behind them?

Driving down secondary highways as a child was a history lesson. Today's kids will have to get by on the sanitized version.

Does this mean they'll be closing Wops Park in Apex, NC?

I've never heard of any of the places mentioned in the article.

I wonder if they're going to rename White Lake?

"We have the lowest per capita amount of black folks in this part of the world,"

An interesting statistic. I thought the number of black folks per capita was unity. Same as the number of white folks, etc...

"Per capita" == "per head" or "per person". Hmm. Maybe he is thinking about persons of mixed race...very few 'pure' anything per capita these days.

Glad to see that removing those names is getting bi-partisan support. There's no place for partisan politics in this debate, IMHO. :)
