Dianne Feinstein Introduces .50 ban in U.S. Senate
http://www.fcspi.org/news-feinstein2003ban.htm ^
Posted on 04/30/2003 9:29:47 PM PDT by 2nd_Amendment_Defender
Senator Dianne Feinstein has once again introduced a Senate bill that would essentially ban 50 caliber rifles, similar to federal bans on machine guns.
Feinstein is joined by the usual cast of gun banners, including Schumer (D-NY), Lautenberg (D-NJ), Kennedy (D-MA), Corzine (D-NJ), Durbin (D-IL) and Levin (D-MI).
Feinstein's efforts seeks to scare the public with all manner of exaggerations about the rifles, including the suggestion that the guns can hit targets from 4 miles away.
Feinstein's press release announcing the bill failed to mention that these rifles have been around for nearly 20 years and have never once been used to kill a single person in the U.S. Instead, she attempts to demonize and create fear in the minds of those unfamiliar with our firearms and 50 caliber target shooting, to further her agenda of banning guns.
As credible threats to public safety, .50 caliber rifles rank tied with Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster and the Easter Bunny, all of which are tied to 0 fatalities in the U.S.
Fifty Caliber Shooters' Policy Institute will continue to aggressively oppose Senator Feinstein's attempts to demonize and ban .50 caliber rifles.

Of course, she is a member of the elite. Her husband gets awarded nine-figure contracts by the Department of the Army.
This law is for US who are less privileged -- you know, the hoi polloi.
Thus, it is no longer a matter of rights, but of privileges (which are, of course, nowhere enshrined in the Bill of Rights).

I'd love to see a comparison done between calibered weapons and automobiles, by make/model/manufacturer.
Can you imagine how an elected official would dance in trying to explain that although more people have died at the hands of someone using a Ford than a Browning, we should still ban the Browning?
To: 2nd_Amendment_Defender
Feinstein should be banned at the next election. She's a person of small caliber, yet spits out communist rhetoric at a rate far exceeding the most advanced automatic weapon known to man.
To: 2nd_Amendment_Defender
There is really only one answer to this, but how many Americans are really willing to take the steps necessary?
The president we voted into office will betray us if he gets the opportunity. The senate has all but declared unlimited warfare on the RKBA and private citizens, while the constitution has been under constant siege for years now.
Just how much more is going to be needed before we have taken all that we can stand? Where will you draw the line? This creeping enslavement has been underway for a long time, but most people refuse to see it. When will you open your eyes and see the subtle, invisible chains that have ensnared you?
Free men are quick to see insult when it is offered and quicker to reply. Our reply has been held in abeyance for many long years, have we forgotten who we are? Have we lost sight of the faces of our forefathers?
I fear our chance to hold the line against the darkness is being lost and all we can do now is fight a holding action against the inevitable enslavement of the Land of the Free. Soon it will be too late to do anything but bow our heads and expose our necks to the headmans axe.

When the government is scared of the public, it tends to behave. When the public is dissarmed, it will fear the government.

Just have to wait out this "old" guard from the Senate, e.g., Schumer (D-NY), Kennedy (D-MA), etc. They are reaching the end of their Senate Lives. For the rest, they are witnessing the "centering" of the Left to a more central Democratic Political idealougy.
These attempts to destroy gun ownership in America are really just "floated" in hopes to make an opening through which the larger issue of UN gun bans can be implemented.

I thought this little excerpt I just rewrote was worth posting on it's own. This is 3 chapters from the end of my novel, when the "dirty war" is really kicking into gear, shortly after a list of all of the federal agents including their addresses has been posted all over the internet. This is the dirty war as seen from the POTUS POV.
************************************************************************************
The President had a late lunch in the White House with his CSO Wednesday afternoon; he was grim faced as he stabbed at his crab salad. Harvey, I just heard from Sheridan. [FBI Director] Two more agents were killed today; one of them was shot down at Quantico, right in the middle of the God damn Marine base!
Shit! On Quantico? Did they catch the shooter?
Are you kidding? They dont even know where it came from. And you want to hear something bizarre? The guy who was shot was the FBIs chief sniping instructor! Hows that for ironic?
Damn! How manys that make so far? asked the CSO.
Counting Reston, or just since the fed list came out?
Reston? That was different, that was a raid. How many from after the list?"
Twelve new ones, but theres no way to tell if they were already targeted, or if they were only killed because of the list, said the President. Harvey, its getting bad, real bad. The more we go after these militia types, the more the gun nuts are going crazy! And now with this list
But theyve stopped the list, havent they? I mean, people cant get it on the internet anymore can they?
Thats what they tell me; they say the NSAs got a handle on it. But the genies already out of the bottle! We have to assume that every lunatic with a rifles got a copy of the list already, or that they can find it somewhere.
Any luck tracing it?
Not yet, replied the president. New England they think, maybe. But at least weve managed to keep the fed list story out of the media, weve had nearly 100% compliance with our, uh, request not to report it. Thats been just about the only bright spot in all this whole fiasco: those media controls, or, uh, I should say guidelines, they seem to be working. Thank God for the Patriot Act! The media, the networks, they all understand how important it is not to endanger federal agents by spreading this story around
and of course they dont want to get their FCC licenses yanked.
But the storys already on the internet; didnt the Sledge Report run it?
He did, but he pulled it after the AG talked to him. Anyway, as long as its just on the internet it doesnt matter, it cant get any real traction.
What about talk radio?
So far so good. The shootings are still just being handled as local stories, thats what Im being told.
Crandall said, But weve got to plan for the story to break sooner or later. Patriot Act or not, the whole fed list storys bound to get out. He speared another chilled jumbo shrimp from his sterling silver bowl, dunked it into the special White House cocktail sauce and gobbled it down in one bite. Did you ever think it would get this far?
What? No. Honestly, I never even considered the possibility that it would
spin out of control like this. But hey, they started it! They started it right at that God damn football game! It all started there, so everything since the stadium massacre is on them! Everything!
But who are they? Whos them? The people behind the stadium massacre, or all of the maniacs that are taking pot shots at our agents now?
The gun nuts, the militias, the right wingers, the Constitution fanatics, all of them! exclaimed President Gilmore.
The CSO shook his head wearily. Thats a lot of people. Thats millions of people.
Well they started it! I didnt ask for this crap! They started it, God damn it! President Gilmore threw down his silver salad fork; it clattered off of his china plate and bounced onto the parquet floor. An unsmiling Navy petty officer in a starched white uniform swooped in, picked it up and replaced it with a new fork in one fluid movement. The President waited until the sailor was back at his station by the galley service pass-through, and then he leaned forward and lowered his voice, regaining his composure. Look, Harvey, Ive got a lot of confidence in Sheridan, hes good at his job, but lets face it the FBI just cant
I mean, it just isnt set up, institutionally I mean, to handle this kind of situation. They cant move fast enough, they dont have the right mind set. They just cant do the kind of
dirty work thats needed to stamp this fire out. You follow me?
I think so.
The only ones Ive seen who know how to fight this kind of war are in that ATF group. Whats that guys name? Malone?
Yes sir, Walter Malone.
Thats the man! Burning out that militia nest in Virginia, that was terrific! That was great television, pulling those assault rifles and bazookas out of the ashes. That was fantastic! I mean, face it, this is just as much a media and PR war as anything else, so we need lots more TV like that! We need to send a strong message to the whole country! We need to shift the whole debate
The president sipped his tall iced tea and continued.
Harvey, the way I see it, its not enough just to crack down on these gun nuts, we need to do it on TV. We need to discredit them; we need to disgrace them even while were wiping them out. We need to make the rest of the country hate their stinking guts, so theyll call that 888-GUN STOP number and inform on their own fathers and brothers if thats what it takes! I swear to God, I think this Malone is the only one who really understands just what kind of media war were in!
Yes sir, I agree, but theres an element risk as well.
Harvey, harsh times call for harsh measures! Well never get a handle on this thing fighting by the Marquis de Queensbury rules; we have to fight fire with fire. Ive gone over Malones paper again. I want you to pass the word to him that hes got the green light directly from me. Give him a free hand in Maryland and North Carolina as well as Virginia as of today. Give him whatever he needs: budget, personnel, everything. I mean, its a small group; the whole thing cant cost more than one F-22, right? And those gold-plated pieces of shit crash every week, and were still buying them! So keep it black, keep it off budget, keep it deniable, but get Malone whatever he needs.
Yes sir, its already set up for deniability at every stage. No matter how far anybody digs, it cant reach here.
Good, good. Thats essential, obviously. So tell Malone to put it into high gear and start kicking some more ass like he did down in Virginia! Tell him I think hes doing a great job, and tell him I want to see more of it on TV right away. Tell him I want gun collector to be a dirty word, a national obscenity!

- In regard to the First Amendment, sometimes I read about George W. Bush's efforts to create "Fath-Based Welfare Initiatives" (which my own Ortho-Presby Pastor considers to be "faith-based Communism"), and am seized with the urge to grab Bush Junior's lapels and shout, "NEWS FLASH, Citizen... what part of Congress shall make NO Law don't you understand???" (with respect to our fine Secret Service-men, I am speaking purely hypothetically of course).
- The situation is similar in regard to the Second Amendment. The .50 caliber is certainly an "armament". By any conceivable standard (I think that penetrating 25 metal file-cabinets stacked together is a fair test), the .50 caliber is certainly an "armament". And if the .50 cal is an "Armament"... what part of the Right to keep and bear Arms, SHALL NOT be infringed is so incomprehensible in Basic English??
In fairness to our elected Reps, tho, I should admit that many of them were Publik-Skooled, and so familiarity with Basic English is probably a lot to ask.

Feinstein's press release announcing the bill failed to mention that these rifles have been around for nearly 20 years Only 20 years? High-caliber rifles have been around for over 200 years if you count the old muzzleloaders. I've got an 1850's model rifle that shoots .577 conical bullets and .58 round balls. I guess the technology has changed a bit, but mine's sighted up to 1200 yards and can hit at distances comparable if not better than many of the modern guns.

I am so glad that GeeDubya is president, but that doesn't make me like ANY social programs. If our country had NO social programs, everyone would still be taken care of by their own people. The churches have been instrumental in that for 2 thousand years. Of course the liberals don't like the "if a man will not work, he cannot eat" attitude that God has.
An end to social programs would free up the individual taxpayers moneys to allow him/her to use it as he/she sees fit. Accountability would be nearly absolute!
Of course, many selfish citizens would keep all their moneys for themselves, helping no one, or very few, but as a whole, the people of this mighty nation, under God, would step up to the plate and perform.
Even the Hollywood crowd would have that many more photo-ops as they helped the needy every day.LOL!
We need to stop banning God, and start banning socialism.

This is a good thread to advertise the upcoming Spring Shootout of the Houston Area Texans: This will be held in New Braunfels, Texas, on May 17th at the Dietz's Rifle Range. Shooting will begin at noon.
I'll bring my arsenal shown below with plenty of ammo for everyone to shoot, and the other members of HAT will have their own arsenals.
.40 Caliber SigSauer

.223 Caliber H&K Assault Rifle

The Quigley 45.70 Sharp's Buffalo Rifle

.50 Caliber Barrett 99 Terrain Terminator

I don't think my M1A1 Abrahams is going to be in in time for the shoot, but if I can get my wife to take on a few more customers between now and then I might be able to swing an AR-15 Assault Rifle, too, to compete with Eaker's.
I have included a picture of her below.
She's running a special right now, but I don't want this post pulled so I can't tell you about it.
Drop me a note if you're interested.

When I checked out this range at New Braunfels I noticed some cows out past the 300 yard line, but to keep from having to dress and cut up the darn things if everyone that can be there would send me a note, I'll be sure to have a steak for you.
I'll have all the groceries, but if you want beer you gotta bring it.
SEE YA THERE!!
