It was interesting how quickly McVeigh was executed. Here in Oregon no one has been executed in 20 years, despite a legal death penalty and about 100 qualified individuals. Even in Texas, the champs at the death penalty, it takes 5 years. What was McVeigh, about 2 from arrest to injection?
Clinton was in a hurry, and that's a worry.

McVeigh waived his appeals, and because he was tried in federal court rather than state court, he didn't have the lengthly state appeals before he hit the federal court of appeals.

Whether he would've revived his appeals if he had this information is anyone's guess.

Texas executed George Lott, who killed two people in the Tarrant County Courthouse in 1991, in 1995. Three-and-one-half years. He refused to appeal his conviction.

McVeigh was arrested in 1995, convicted in 1997, and executed in 2001.

A model for how death penalty cases should be handled everywhere.

Not hardly...

Arrested: April 19, 1995

Executed: June 11, 2001

McVeigh Timeline

And given the FACT that McVeigh admitted to the bombing...Ashcroft & crew are right...this letter would not have changed a thing. Ashcroft did delay the execution from May to June due to an FBI blunder. In the end, McVeigh decided not to appeal his sentence

I agree. McVeigh was executed before he changed his mind and decided to spill his guts.

Clinton was in a hurry, and that's a worry.

Bush was President when McVeigh was executed.

McVeigh was executed because he was guilty. This testimony doesn't change a thing.

The only question is did McVeigh have more coconspirators who never were held accountable. McVeigh would have never talked.

So was the administration succeeding Clinton's.

What was McVeigh, about 2 from arrest to injection?

Because he voluntarily waived his appeals.

Everytime the OKC/Waco topic comes up with friends this is my first point. I've always wondered about this.

It was also interesting how big a hurry the Feds were in to demolish the building. There was obviously no evidence of any kind in there.

Maybe McVeigh, having done his duty for the government, was ready to get on with his new life under his new identity somewhere.

I have thought that from the beginning ... seems to me that someone wanted McVeigh silenced as quick as possible

Perhaps, Clinton was in a hurry.

But then this was one of the more horrific crimes of the last ten years.

Granted it pales in comparison to 911, but then we are at war in response to 911 and have killed many bad guys very quickly as a result.
