Just came on line. Can't wait to catch up and see if Lawgirl is still conscious! Whooo-eee!!

Barely!! I can hardly remember such an exciting day. I turned the TV on a full hour ahead of time to catch the flight- WOWOWOWOWOWO!!!!!!!!

You are so right. 9/11 took away so much of the fun we might have had with this presidency. All the jokes and light-hearted moments we might have seen Dubya enjoy.

But there is a funny truth in humor, that it is a cover for pain, a recognition that life is short and unpredictable and so it is doubly important to enjoy every moment you can.

I think this part of George came from the loss of his sister, Robin, unexpectedly, and from coming of age in the Vietnam era. I came of age during Vietnam, too, and understand too well the "eat, drink, and be merry for tomorrow this dear friend may die" syndrome.

So a man like this may be the best one that God could have given us to lead us through these humorless times back to joy.
