Men like this make me proud to be American, and proud to be a lifetime member of the NRA.

When he returned from the war, he opened a gun shop in Lancaster, Calif., that became noted for top-notch customer service and for carrying gun parts that other shops didn't offer.

For 40 years, he ran the store in California, eventually being joined by his daughter, Nancy Errea, and her husband, Marty.

They moved to Rapid City in July of 1994 to escape the crime and increasingly stringent gun regulations in their home state.

I feel like sending a letter to the CA legislature, shaming them for chasing this man from the state.

Thanks for posting this, SoDak. I read it in the Journal this morning. We're very proud to have him here in Rapid City.

If I'm going to read a state newspaper, I have to read the RCJ online, because I just can't stomach the Gannett rag on this side of the state anymore.

I knew he left California. I used to chat with him about stuff. He had a firing range in the back of his gun shop, under ground. It used to be fun when I would go down, and some security guard would pop his little .38 Special for his qualification. I would use my .45ACP Government model, and shake the rafters. He asked me after one of my recreational sessions: "Do you like teaching humility lessons to these guys?" Rhetorical question. I could only smile.

He was a little miffed that CA told him that his range could not shoot magnums, and only uses bullets that were copper plated all over, and he had to require folks to wash their hands after shooting. It smacked of Pontius Pilate to him.

Yes, a wonderful gentleman.

Yes, a wonderful gentleman.

And proof that one person can make a difference. Be safe.

The liberal gov't here in CA is driving out conservatives by the droves, which is accellerating the fall of freedom. That's not enough, they drive out business, especially manufacturing, by constant and ridiculous "green" legislation.

When they finally have their way, only the people that vote for entitlements, no hunting, no fishing, no self defense, no polution, no politically incorrect body language etc. will be left. That leaves Hollywood's limosine liberals to pay all the taxes to support their socialist regeme.

Hey Joe,

Read this in AFF. Big shame California steadily removes freedom its subjects. I myself will be moving to AZ in '05 where a gun on my hip doesn't make me a bad guy.

To everyone on this thread who didn't read this in America's First Freedom, which NRA rag do you get?
