A mean-spirited America-Barf Alert!
MSNBC ^ | 5/2/03 | Jill Nelson

Posted on 05/03/2003 1:01:24 AM PDT by RBB64

NEW YORK, May 2 — These days, a sense of apprehension and foreboding lurks in the back of my head and the pit of my stomach. It’s a gut-wrenching reminder that something very bad has happened and is about to happen anew. It is an anticipation of the next insult and injury in an America that has been defined under the Bush administration by a profound meanness of spirit.

This lady Jill Nelson is living in another world. What planet, pardon the cliché, is she from? Seriously, we have a leader like George W. Bush that we haven't seen in a long time, and Liberals just lose all sense of reality when their backs are against the wall I guess. I mean really, Saddam has weapons of mass destruction, we've already found plenty of evidence. It seems the liberals want us to unearth nuclear reactors or something in order for them to be satisfied. Losing the war on Terrorism? How about the lowest Terrorism rate since 1969 I believe. And to think that in order to get to that lofty plateau, we have to give up a few privacy rights? Rights that most Americans do not mind giving up (if they notice at all) in order to fight terrorism (Remember 9/11 Jill?). Liberalism these days, you know, how it is a mental disease, how it doesn’t have a stranglehold on the media any more, is thankfully taking a back seat in this country. The thing is, people in America HAVE taken back our country and that's why we've backed a President that liberated the Iraqi people, put his hammer down on Terrorism and hey, the last I looked the economy is showing signs of real life. The stock market has been going back up consistently. And that's another thing, Liberals want to talk about how BAD and HORRIBLE, and GLOOMY everything is around us. (The only tactic they can muster to try to win back the Presidency and Congress). Well, I’m sorry, I just don't see it; I see Patriotism, pride and a slight glimpse of how good 'ole America used to be. Let's say a prayer and hope we continue taking our country back Jill, you can sit back and just watch, with all of your fellow liberals. Just like you did when the man, George W. Bush, showed us to victory in Iraq and continues to show us real Patriotism and Leadership. GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Sincerely,

Rick Bird San Francisco, CA

"Yet to question this war and its aftermath is characterized as at worst treason and at best anti-American cynicism. And woe unto those who criticize Halliburton, Kellogg Brown & Root and the rest of the corporate sponsors of the Bush administration as they line up at the trough of government contracts to rebuild Iraq and control its oil."

I wonder when the last time this lady bemoaned the taxpayer $$ given to left wing charities, causes, and programs by the fedgov.

"Jill Nelson is a journalist, teacher and author."

A teacher.... Isn't that special...

Yes, America is gloriously victorious, and George W. Bush is enormously popular and destined for Mount Rushmore--a "Liberal's" most horrifying nightmare!

Interesting read, for me, because it struck me half way through the article that this sounds exactly like the gibberish I used to read in the old LA Free Press, circa 1968. To wit:

Yet to question this war and its aftermath is characterized as at worst treason and at best anti-American cynicism. And woe unto those who criticize Halliburton, Kellogg Brown & Root and the rest of the corporate sponsors of the Bush administration as they line up at the trough of government contracts to rebuild Iraq and control its oil. Now, the armed forces in Iraq have turned to shooting Iraqi demonstrators, the very people they supposedly came to “liberate” with democracy.

Leftists feeling 'oppressed' simply because the majority vigorously disagrees with their freely expressed speech.
'Corporations control Amerika', etc.
Suggestions of dark conspiracies concerning events that played out under the glaring spotlight of intense media scrutiny and public debate.
False accusations of war crimes/misbehavior by US troops and a general derogation of the motives, morale and character of our armed forces.

Back in the 60's, you had to read the 'underground' press or listen to commie-infested KPFK/KPFA to find this kind of sour grapes America bashing. Nowadays, you find it in the mainstream (sans the clenched fist logo). They even spell AmeriCa without a 'K'. Guess that means they are not really commies anymore, huh?

A typically paranoid and hysterical column from Jill "the sky is falling" Nelson. I've never read any of her articles that didn't vary from garbage like this. She fears our own government more than terrorists? She's a liar also. She'll stay right where she is drawing her hugely overpaid salary. She has no business being printed anywhere except on a wacko left-wing rag or website. I'd say she needs mental care too, but the numbers of leftist nutcases like her are in the millions. You'd need a team of expert shrinks to help each one bankrupting our medical system.

When libs lie like this - it's amazing how many accept the false underlying assumptions of Bush. And when Clinton was president and the assumptions were true.....none of the libs believed it.

Blaire on Bush:

"He is highly intelligent, and it's not clotted by so many nuances that the meaning is obscured. The good thing about (Bush) is that once he does really think that an issue has to be tackled he has big reserves of courage for doing it, and he won't really be diverted... I trust him, and that is extremely important at our level of politics."

When I think of mean spirited I think of Dick Gephardt, Tom Daschal, Hillary, Bill, Al, Terry McAwful, Carville, Begala, Lanny Davis, Reno, Ted Kennedy, etc.

As I watched Bush on the ship, and at all the speaking engagements this past week, I was so happy and proud. He is such a refreshing change from Clinton the joke.

Leno and Letterman both told a Clinton joke this week. They both said something about Bush's landing on the ship, then they said "The last time a president landed on anything THAT BIG, he was .........impeached" (Only Letterman left off that last word)

Bush is such an honorable man. I wish Reagan could see and hear him. He would be so proud. Bush #1 is very proud, and perhaps, a bit jealous.

"W" is doing a FINE JOB!

I sent an email to MSNBC questioning their reasons for showing an "evil" President Bush and posting the anti American article. The author?/teacher? is a pathetic socialist who is bitter that we are not a communist/socialist nation, taking from the workers and giving to the parasites/non workers. What trash. There are no redeeming values, no honest reasons for printing such garbage.

I literally Thank God daily for our President, our Country and her freedoms, and my right to practice my religion without fear.

Please, let me summarize Jill Nelson's article:

Oh, how I long for the days of Clinton, when he would make the conservatives quake with fear and run away screaming... When, oh when, will the DNC be able to destroy the Newt Gingriches again? Oh, we don't have a real platform, just our opposition and demonization of Bush...

You know, it's funny. Bush isn't even all THAT conservative, he's thrown budgdet money at them with both hands, and yet liberals really do think he's the Devil.

Just goes to show you how far left they've really gone.

The way they carry on about this imaginary "oppression" whenever people honestly react to their wacko perspective---it's like they secretly want to experience some real oppression, which they know darn well isn't occurring here.

It may not exactly be a death wish they have, but it's definitely a "hurt" wish. I don't get it at all. Hopefully a shrink might.

It seems the liberals want us to unearth nuclear reactors or something in order for them to be satisfied.

This statement is completely untrue. The only way to come close to satisfying these lunatics would be for a US inspector to accidentally trigger a booby-trapped cache that would send a mushroom cloud over the city where the cache was found.

They would then say it was the fault of the inspector.

I believe the Battle of Iraq would have been justified strictly on humanitarian grounds. However, they have also found that Hussein was actively involved in recruiting, training and financing Al Qaeda. They have located bio terror lab trucks and have shot down scud missiles during recent hostilities.

People that say Bush has explaining to do have the IQ of a fire plug. There isn't any point in talking to them. Such people should be given cheerful permission to go become permanent human shields in Cuba or North Korea or Iran or Syria or Ramalah or Chechnia.
