American anti-war politician was on Saddam’s payroll.

It looks as if left wing British MP George Galloway wasn’t the only allied politician on Saddam’s payroll. Anti-Bush loudmouth Jim McDermott, D-Wash has also been sleeping with the enemy. I wonder how may more in the anti-war movement received payoffs?

'Baghdad' Jim McDermott Took Cash From Saddam Ally

Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Wash., who famously traveled to Baghdad last fall and pronounced President Bush a liar, accepted a cash payment less than a month later from an Iraqi-American businessman with ties to Saddam Hussein. McDermott collected the payment from Shakir al-Khafaji, the same Detroit-based Baghdad apologist who paid former U.N. weapons inspector Scott Ritter $400,000 two years ago to make a pro-Saddam documentary about Iraq.

Where’s the Media on Saddam’s Payoffs?

In the May 5 Weekly Standard, Stephen F. Hayes summarized the story and added that American politicians also received cash: Rep. Jim McDermott, so memorably featured from Baghdad attacking President Bush as a liar last fall on ABC’s This Week, accepted $5,000 for his legal defense fund from Shakir al-Khafaji, a Saddam supporter (and contractor with the Ba’athist regime) who arranged his Baghdad trip. Where are the national media on this developing storyline?

On October 25, McDermott received a check for $5,000 from Shakir al-Khafaji. The money, first reported by Amy Keller in Roll Call, had been deposited in an account for the McDermott Legal Expense Trust, a fund the congressman set up to pay legal bills in a lawsuit brought against him by Rep. John Boehner.

McDermott should be tried for treason and jailed for life.

I'll second the motion.

I've said it in the past and I'd like to repeat it one more time.

If the FBI and CIA could go from office to office (as they now can in Iraq) the United Nations would prove to be a major source (if not thee source) of the world terror.

'McDermott should be tried for treason and jailed for life.'

Scott Ritter as well.

Jail? Hell no! The punishment for treason should be death.

Oh....$5,000 bucks made out to his "Legal Expense Trust."

Sorry.

Undercaffeination.

The Democrats decry Rick Santorum's remark about laws concerning homosexuality like it is the worst thing ever but allow McDermott to run free. Saddam's cash greased many hands, McDermott's palm is included for his statement “The President of the United States will lie to the American people in order to get us into this war.” His cohorts, Jim Thompson and David Bonior are equally guilty if by nothing else than by association with Jim McDermott. Al-Khafaji arranged for this delegation for members of the US congress to get acquainted with Iraqi people – meaning Saddam Hussien’s largess for propaganda in his favor.

Bush has not forgotten and I would hope the good people of McDermott’s state of Washington as well have long memories and I am surprised they elected Patty Murray another anti-American. It is noted that the $5,000.00 has not been returned and has anyone noticed what Patty is driving these days.......?

I sure wish they would. I wonder if Mcdermott would then blame the Zionists for this 'smear campaign' against him like Galloway did.

IIRC, one of those boxes was labeled 'UN'. I'd give my eyeteeth to know where it is now and what corrupt, dirty UN secrets are buried in it.

Did McDermott ever answer for his leaking of the illegally recorded telephone conversation of Newt Gingrich and other Republicans? He is a major criminal -- why doesn't the Justice Department do something about him?
