In American public schools, school administration usually frowns on all Confederate gear.

Our local schools don't have a uniform per se, but we do have dress code. You can't wear anything that has any mention of alcohol or tobacco. They can send a kid home any time they deem his or her dress inappropriate. This gives the school a lot of leeway on what they deem OK. They can make them turn a shirt inside out, to hide an alcohol ad, for example - or send a girl home if her tummy shows. I have no problem with any of that, and if they decided the kids couldn't wear head covering I have no problem with that either.

They tried to push school uniforms through here, back when my kids were in school, and we didn't want that. But they would have worn uniform if it had been voted in. Problem was with the actual uniform. It was totally masculine looking. Red Polo shirt with collar and buttons in front. Khaki pants. My kids prefer blue jeans that last a million times longer than khakis. And my kids don't look good in red, they don't wear red. The shirts they picked out for uniform were THICK and HOT and this is a hot humid climate on the Texas coast. My daughter is a dainty little lady and didn't want to dress like a man! The uniform was very manly looking. But we would have followed dress code uniform if it had gone through. Glad it didn't.
