"Jesus came to show us that the material world is not real. That is, there is no physical law. That is why he walked on water. That is why he healed. That is why he raised himself from the dead. Jesus did not want to be worshipped."
You're wrong. The miracles proved that He is Lord over the material world. There is physical law -- it's just that God is not bound by it. You need to read the Bible from authorial intent, not from your new-age perspective.
Of course Jesus wants to be worshiped -- that's the whole point of John 3, especially verse 14.

Jesus said: Do not worship me, worship the one who sent me.
Jesus called people who followed God's law his brothers.
The first sentence is clear. Re the 2nd one, people do not worship their brothers.
You must have a "New age" definition of physical law if you truly claim it can be broken. Jesus said those who followed him would do greater things than he. I am sure you are healing the sick and walking on water. Especially since you are holy enough to tell me that I am wrong.
I am actually a Methodist. But considering the tone of your post, you probably think I am going to hell because of that.

Jesus then invited his disciples to walk across the water to him, with faith they could do the same as he could..
it was not only god who could defy the physical rules

jesus invited his disciples to follow him across the water, and it worked until loss of faith upon which the disciple in question began sinking. it is not only god who can defy the "rules"
