I suspect he tied it off before he started cutting. Hard to do with one hand, but manageable.

Why did this guy go to such a remote place alone?
I'm **cough cough** stumped.

Yea I remember a few years ago when a group of hikers were wiped out in Canyon de Chelley. I remember a story of these 2 french kids in a motel room coming out after 3 days when their parents didn't show up from a hike.... so sad... so selfish

What you said is quite humerus..............Actually, I found it quite disarming.

There has to be a singular kind of satisfaction in being able to look down at your own grave, and just turn and walk away. You can even p*** on it, if you have really low self-esteem.
Does the mortician stick you for the full-sized coffin and plot? Or can they just use something like an old sonobuoy tube or a Hefty bag to bury the thing? Inquiring minds want to know.

I read somewhere that a long term goal of his was to climb all 54 of Colorado's 14,000-foot-plus peaks. He was within arm's reach but it looks like he can throw that out the window now.

Canyon de Chelley A beautiful place that has seen plenty of tragedy, both natural and man made. I toured the Canyon in an old halftrack - I couldn't believe it was still running - but it handled the sand just fine!

Inquiring minds want to know. And do they cut the sleeve off of a dress shirt and jacket to put it in? Do you have to pay for the whole suit? Can they just save it for the rest of you later?

They should have sent in Blix and his, "Arms," Inspectors on the search party. Of course, they'd still be looking.
At least this climber's Second Amendment rights were violated by himself.

This guy is intelligent, although lacking commonsense. He has a double major in French and mechanical engineering, and (sort of sad now) a minor in performance piano. Hope he puts his brain to better use in the future.

Well, he may have lost an arm but he gained a "Movie of the Week" script.

ok, this is getting out of hand.
This may have already been pointed out, but being cut off from the rest of the world must have been a disarming experience. I try to imagine how he must have felt, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

You know, there's a certain weird closure in going to the funeral for your own body part. Just think, you could write and deliver the eulogy at your own funeral service! (The drawback is that you have to pay for it too). Well, who pays for the recovery of the arm??????? It's the least he could do to pay for the funeral....

Probably to keep some other morbid idiot from going up there trying to get it himself and winding up in the same shape. Or selling it on E-Bay.
