Why in the hell would they spend time and money trying to recover a dried up hand/arm halfway up the side of a mountain? What a waste of money.

They claimed it was a "biohazard" and they also wanted to thwart "souvenir hunters", fwiw. Initially they sought it for possible reattachment but couldn't move the boulder.

The recovery effort was sponsored by Timex -- "It takes a lickin' but it keeps on tickin'" -- and resulted in what promises to be a very effective TV ad........
