I'm of the opinion that where America went right with religion is where we went wrong: America's separation of church and state made it clear that there was no favourite "flavour" of relgion, at least in theory. Because Her Majesty is also the head of the Church of England, it opened the "favourite flavour" up to ridicule, as it was a tool of politics. The "let a thousand flowers of faith" bloom approach has worked well in America.

Regards, Ivan

To have left Saddam Hussein in power, and let him pursue his ambitions unmolested, would have invited terrible consequences, not just for the Iraqi people but the concept of international order. Blair could not wash his hands of the problem, because inaction would have left them steeped in far more blood.

How refreshing! Christianity as a moral philosophy, a reporter dares say the "J" word - without derision - in a major British paper. Wow. Another unexpected benefit of the war on Iraq. Thanks for the post, Ivan.

Be honest, how did you feel when you read that the Prime Minister had told The Times he was “ready to meet his Maker” and answer for the casualties caused by the Iraq war?

You know, I think this hits the point rather nicely.

A Christian firmly believes that he is held accountable for his actions both in this life and the next. This contrasts with the, "if you can get away with it, do it" sort of philosophy practiced by so many.

A Christian knows that there is no 'getting away with it". You will be called to account for your every deed, word and thought.

"Thank God for politicians who take their cue from above"

Sounds somewhat redundant, doesn't it??

President Bush and PM Blair, with their awesome responsibilities and at times, burdens, do well to invoke the name of God.
