I agree. In fact, I am inclined to think that Iraqi Freedom would have happened even in the absence of the events of 9/11. Perhaps a bit later in time, but Saddam's days were numbered from the date of W's inauguration, not September 11, 2001.

Also, if you have absolutely NO interest in wondering why 9/11 happened, I have to wonder what the problem is. I can blame it on Bush or the Man in the Moon until some answers start coming in and the people are given a chance to really find out what the hell happened. Until Bush starts releasing the records, giving more funds to the 9/11 commission and the truth comes out, I won't be the only one wondering what went wrong. Remember there was a commission formed SIX WEEKS after Pearl Harbor, this country has poured millions into the discovering the cause of the Shuttle disaster, but the 9/11 commission is still plodding along.

Indeed. And we should also include the period from the administration of Bush I, when US businesses were doing business with Saddam on a routine basis right up to and including after, in some cases, the actual commencement of hostilities with United States and Coalition troops as well.

Maybe it's time to dust off some of those old WWII-era statutes regarding trading with the nation's enemies....
