Another drug war lie: Ammonium sulfate + lye makes ammonia, water, and sodium sulfate. Only the latter two could be called "byproducts" and neither is harmful, toxic or corrosive.

Unless they are talking about the killer DHMO, which of course is so corrosive that it rusts corrodes iron (very, very slowly) on contact.
