Woman admits lying about rape claim
5/6/2003 2:45 PM By: News 14 Carolina Staff
A Durham man will go free after serving eight years of a life sentence for sex crimes.
Che Fletcher, 30, was convicted in 1995 of raping a woman at gunpoint and shooting her.
Now the woman said she lied. She said she accused Fletcher of rape because he refused to pay her for sex and Fletcher said the shooting was an accident.
He should get out of jail later this week.

Rape is a terrible crime. So is a false accusation of rape that destroys a man's reputation which he has to live with the rest of his life. It just makes prosecuting cases where women have been raped all that much harder. No one walks away looking good from this one.

When any person is falsely accused / tried / convicted / sentenced and later the false accusation is discovered, the false accuser should be forced to serve the entire sentence. That would include life sentences and death penalties. Period!!!

When does The accuser start her 8 year sentence? She should have to for her lies, you know.

Somehow, NOW will come into the picture and assure us she is still the victim, and make him finally pay her or something. We live in a sick twisted world sometimes.

Most likely Fletcher was trying to rip a hooker off, as some johns are known to do. Most likely he never talked to the lawyers or cops about how there was a struggle for his gun he kept in his glover compartment, or the one she had in her purse.
Sometimes both people look so bad, nothing resembling the truth comes out because they won't utter it. Then again, that's the risk with charges like rape.

"No one walks away looking good from this one".
I'd say the innocent man has walked away looking good. And the feminist-leaning system of law that oppresses so many innocent men has walked away looking pretty bad. But I don't expect this to change one single thing about how these abuse allegations are handled. Two main rules apply in Divorce Courts and Sexual/physical abuse cases: 1. Woman = good 2. Man = no good.

Put her in the same general copulation population he was in.

She said she accused Fletcher of rape because he refused to pay her for sex and Fletcher said the shooting was an accident. Sounds like it was a rape in any event. If her consent was conditional on him paying and he didn't, that was nonconsensual sex (i.e. rape).

So, in these cases put the male in jail? Something stinks about the way some "law enforcement" people think today. False testimony that puts a person in jail for a crime he did not commit should be severely punished. They knew this during the Spanish Inquisition, that it would prevent false accusations. If you lied to get an alleged "heretic" imprisoned, and it was found out, YOU served the time in jail that he would have served. It's time to put a similar law into practice, including into all abuse allegation cases. This will put a stop to the feminist agenda of oppressing men with false accusations in Courts of law.

"Agreed. Another legal principle that King Hammurabi got right and modern "liberalism" gets wrong."
This is particularly true in the case of rape charges which were falsified.

I agree. Furthermore, this greatly hurts prosecuting true rape cases.

Come on! We all have known since Anita Hill testified before Congress against Clarence Thomas that women don't lie about these sorts of things.
EVERYBODY, BACK IN LINE!

I agree. I'm just saying the actual real story doesn't come out in court. Probably both did something they could be in jail for, but the damn hooker didn't come forward for eight years. I don't know what happened, but the sordid circumstances of their encounter made it difficult for the truth to flow freely, I imagine.

The woman should serve eight years at least, if not the man's life term sentence. Odd the article makes no mention of what the woman will get.
