RTM Prelim. Budget Calls For Big Tax Hike

The Rose Tree Media School Board approved, April 24, a preliminary 2003-04 budget which includes expenditures of $59,582,573, a $4,160,229 increase from the 2002-03 final budget. This translates to 16.733 mills -- a tax increase of .9495 over the 2002-03 rate of 15.7835.

Rose Tree Media is in suburban Philadelphia but this is happening in just about every district in Pennsylvania and will continue until school boards once again get the power to fire striking teachers or something more radical like school choice.
