United Nations, May 9 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. argued with France, Russia and other members of the United Nations over starting the Iraq war. The conflict has ended; the U.S. debate with the UN hasn't.
The UN wants a major say in the rebuilding of Iraq. The U.S. view, expressed by Vice President Dick Cheney last month, is that the UN isn't ``equipped'' for a central part. The U.S. has drafted a Security Council resolution that says the UN should play a ``vital'' postwar role yet specifies only a ``coordinating'' position for the agency.
