Gephardt's Lesbian Daughter Comes Out for 2004 Campaign [Will be out front lobbying for votes]

Dick Gephardt's daughter Chrissy is preparing to campaign for her fathers bid for the Democratic Presidential nomination in a way no daughter has before-as an out and vocal member of the gay and lesbian community.

According to the Capitol Hill newspaper Roll Call, Chrissy will be agressive in helping her father, the former House Minority leader, solicit gay and lesbian votes.

Vice President Dick Cheney's daughter is also lesbian, but she has never spoken publicly about her sexual orientation since her father joined George W. Bush's ticket in 2000 or since her father has been in office.

Chrissy Gephardt is not hiding the fact that she is a lesbian. An April 26 Boston Globe story about civil unions reports that Dick Gephardt 'has a daughter who is gay, a fact that his campaign neither conceal nor trumpet.'

And to that point, Gephardt's campaign website says that Chrissy lives with her partner Amy, in Washington DC were she works with female survivors of trauma at a mental health agency.

Didn't Mary Cheney attend a rally last time?

I don't know about that. There are a lot of conservative homosexuals, I've read in journals I trust (NR for one).

I don't know, the Republicans had been making inroads into the homosexual vote. Given the narrowness of the Florida win it's possible that support in the gay community made that win possible in part. But recent events have probably damaged a lot of that support.

Mary Cheney was quietly around trying to support her father. Here's the only picture I can find of Chrissy, she's the one on the far right.

She 's no Rosie O'Donnell.

Only if they are one issue voters.

I believe you are not correct.

So, you're thinking that at least 40% or more of registered homosexuals, bi-sexuals, transgenders, etc. will vote for W over the DEM candidate?

Dunno...maybe it depends in part on who the dem candidate is.

BTW, your lumping transgendered with homosexual is rather perjorative. It may be appropriate for radical homosexuals...

I believe Mary Cheney travelled with her father during the 2000 campaign.

Here's a thought...maybe family members should keep their sex lives out of relative's political campaigns?

I wish that were so.

If the Cheneys hadn't talked about Mary Cheney being a lesbian, you know the tabloids would've found out and there'd been screaming headlines.

I have no idea of the numbers. I know several homosexuals well, though, and all vote Republican. Small, invalid survey, I know, but it comports with other readings I have done. I think we shouldn't confuse all homosexuals with attention-seeking flamers.

I never said that. I have no idea what percentage voted for Bush, but I'm confident that at least a few thousand voted for Bush in Florida in 2000, and without them we would be complaining about President Gore right now. There's no telling just what percentage of the vote homosexuals make up in some states. Why should we deliberately alientate them?

Isaiah 3:9 The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.

Whom is alienating Whom?

My beloved nephew is a 33 year old gay man. It was hard for me to accept at first. But I have known since he was 19. He never sleeps around. He lives with another man. It has been very hard for the family, but we love him just the same no matter what. I had a cousin who was gay, and he left his wife and kids and then died of AIDS. It was so sad. I will never abandon my nephew!

If we want to discuss sin here, pre-marital sex, extra marital sex, lying, stealing, using God's name in vain, holding anything more dear to yourself than GOD, cheating, running stop sign, running stop light, speeding, all are sins. No one is perfect. Being gay is no more sinful than having sex before marriage, or getting a divorce and then remarried. That is a sin, too. Many things are sins, many things that we just accept these days. Gays are not doing any thing any more sinful than a lot of heteros do.

Well now let just equate it all, ignoring sin, advocating sin, makes it ok.

This is not about perfection of anyone. It is about making an individual "special status" simply because of with whom and how some do "sex" now demanding to be recognized as "civil right" becoming the standard.

I don't give a rat's behind who does what with whom. I do care that the society like you want makes it the standard.
