The judge in the case is a radical leftist, FYI.

He ruled in 1996 that it was not unreasonable for a suspect to run from the police in Washington Heights where he said police are viewed as "corrupt, abusive and violent." He used his ruling to toss out 75 lbs of cocaine that the suspect had confiscated under the illegal search and seizure umbrella.

Media pressure including pressure from Clinton, caused him to over turn his own ruling. Sounds like he is just playing to the media again.
