Thanks for the good advice, PW! I'll make sure the doc checks me for Fuchs at the next appt.
Heck, I didn't know I had cataracts until I got new glasses a couple years ago. You know you're in trouble when the doc says, "hhhhmmmmm HHHHMMMMM" when he's doing the eye exam--and takes a really long time doing it. I was relieved to find out it wasn't glaucoma.
I have crappy night vision, something I never had before. Last winter, I went over to the other side of town on an errand and decided that I'd take another way home to avoid the traffic. Silly me! I forgot about going under this railroad bridge. Got down in the dip (no lights) and couldn't see the road. It was like I was blindfolded. I came out in the wrong lane & it scared the living crapola out of me. I do not drive at night unless I *know* the route's well-lit, but mostly, I just don't drive at night. I also get halos around lights, blurred vision & watery & burning eyes when the peepers are pooped.
My Mom got cataracts early--in her late 40's. One sis got cataracts in her late 30's, triggered by steriod use. The doc said I'm genetically predisposed for early cataracts. Well, it's that & all the boating. But I want these buggers out NOW.

You are in my prayers.
St. Augustine, patron saint of eyes, pray for us.
God bless you.

Big prayer bump from one who has visual problems and knows just how difficult they can be! That makes my prayer for you even
more intense!
May you have a fully successful result and recovery!! I have thought of you so often since you told me about your eye problem.
Now when I see your posts and name, I can know with full and complete faith that you are recovered and able to see all the good FReeper input!
Hugs.

Thank you for the bit of info about St. Augustine being the patron saint of eyes! I am not Catholic, but I am sure he wants everyone to see clearly!!
I was reading the other posts about cataracts and the associated symptoms. Add that to a detached retina nine years ago, and you get someone reading this thread avidly!!
Thanks again for the input!! FReepers are the greatest!!

I am sure he wants everyone to see clearly Well, a lot of people smarter than me call him Christianity's greatest philosopher, so I guess that's right...

When I typed "he", I was referring to St. Augustine. But you're right about Christ, so I will capitalize the "He"!

Yes. I went to Google.com to look up who he, Augustine, was. The word "philosophy" and "philosopher" was all over the place. I knew then that you were referring to him!
Thank you!

One of his greatest contributions was "Augustinian Just War Theory," which was cited frequently in the buildup to war in Iraq. It seeks to marry the pacifism of Christ with the idea that sometimes Mankind has to stip up for himself against evil.

One more question about St. Augustine ... why is he called the Patron Saint for the eyes? There was so much material to read on Google that I only waded in so far.
Eyes get blurry on the long reads ;-).
