the son of the couple that we bought our house from died from a recluse spider bite - he was camping in the woods in northern Florida- we have had two teens in the school get bites from reaching into boxes in the garage in central fla on the coast - so they seem to be everywhere- the trick is getting to the Dr on time for antibiotics

They're in the LA area as well - a larger area in CA than the map shows. A lady I met had a hole in her thigh all the way to the bone before they did plastic surgery. She was bitten when walking through some shrubs. She almost died from it. From what I've heard their webs are very irregular...not symmetrical.

There are loxosceles spiders that are not recluses.
They are relatives, and have the violin...
and they are in Virginia.

Both my son and I have been bitten my BRSs (confirmed).....in Oregon Cascade mtns. This map is incorrect.
